There is no fixed payment amount for the $725 million Facebook privacy settlement. Approved claimants’ shares are calculated from the settlement’s net funds and the number of months their Facebook accounts were activated during the class period. The latest located update from the settlement administrator, current as of May 15, 2026, said the first distribution was complete and a second was expected to begin in June. That dated expectation does not confirm whether payments are still being sent as of October 8, 2026.

Are Facebook settlement payments still being sent?

The settlement administrator’s page said its initial distribution was complete and that a second distribution had been approved on May 6, 2026. In an update current as of May 15, 2026, the administrator expected the second round to start in June and last about four weeks. The page displayed an update date of May 27, 2026. Those dates describe the administrator’s expectation at the time; the located update does not establish the second round’s status as of October 8, 2026. Check the official settlement website for a newer status notice or contact options.

The second distribution is not a new claim period. The original claim deadline was August 25, 2023, and the administrator’s update does not say that people who never filed can submit a claim now.

How much will my payment be?

There is no guaranteed flat amount. The court-filed settlement notice explains that approved claims receive a share of the net settlement fund based on points: each month a claimant had an activated Facebook account during the class period earns one point. The per-point value is calculated by dividing the net fund by the total points assigned to all approved claims; a claimant’s payment is their points multiplied by that value.

In practical terms, a longer span of activated account months can mean more points, but the formula does not reveal an individual payment without knowing the final net fund and total points among approved claimants. The $725 million figure is the gross settlement fund, not the amount guaranteed to be paid out to claimants: administration expenses, court-awarded fees and costs, and service awards are deducted. The court-filed notice, submitted in 2022, says the amount depends on how many valid claims are submitted and how long each claimant used Facebook during the class period.

The administrator’s located update does not state a specific second-round payment amount, and the reviewed official material does not provide a claimant-specific estimate. Treat unofficial dollar figures as unverified, not as an official expected payment.

Who was eligible for the privacy settlement?

The settlement class covers people who used Facebook while in the United States at any time from May 24, 2007, through December 22, 2022, inclusive. Receiving a payment required an approved, timely claim; being a Facebook user during that period alone was not enough.

The case, In re: Facebook, Inc. Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation (case 3:18-md-02843-VC), resolved allegations that Facebook shared or made users’ and their friends’ data accessible to third parties without permission and did not sufficiently monitor third-party access. Meta denied liability and wrongdoing. The settlement did not establish an individual payment amount based solely on eligibility.

Is this the Facebook stock-investor Fair Fund?

No. The privacy settlement and the SEC Facebook Fair Fund are separate programs with different administrators and eligibility rules.

Program Who it covers Administrator Purpose
Facebook user privacy settlement Eligible U.S. Facebook users during May 24, 2007–December 22, 2022, who filed an approved, timely claim The settlement administrator, through its settlement website Resolution of privacy-related class claims
SEC Facebook Fair Fund Eligible purchasers of Facebook common stock on a U.S. exchange from January 28, 2016, through March 19, 2018 RCB Fund Services Distribution to eligible investors, not Facebook users seeking the privacy settlement

For investor-fund eligibility and status, use RCB Fund Services’ Facebook Fair Fund page. Its stock-purchase rules do not determine eligibility for the user privacy settlement.
