Meta’s available guidance directs sellers to those rules but does not, in the material reviewed here, establish whether services are allowed or provide a complete current prohibited-items list. Check the live policy for your exact offer before listing; legality where you live does not by itself mean Meta permits it.
Can you sell services on Facebook Marketplace?
The available Meta guidance does not settle whether a service can be listed as a Marketplace offering. It points users to the Commerce Policies for what is allowed, but the policy wording needed to answer the service-specific question is not available in the official material reviewed as of October 8, 2026. That means you should not assume that a service is permitted—or prohibited—based on a general summary or on the fact that similar offers appear on Facebook.
Before creating a listing, check Meta’s current Commerce Policies and Marketplace guidance for the exact type of offer you intend to post. Verify that the rules address services, not just physical goods, and look for any conditions or exceptions that apply. If the wording does not clearly cover your offer, do not treat that uncertainty as approval.
How to check whether an item is prohibited
Meta’s Help Center safety guidance points readers to its article titled “Things that can’t be listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace.” Its enforcement guidance also directs sellers to review the Commerce Policies. The material reviewed for this article does not include the full current policy text, so it cannot support an exhaustive category-by-category list or reliable claims about particular exceptions.
#1 Best Overall
- Open Meta’s current Commerce Policies and the Marketplace article “Things that can’t be listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace.”
- Check the specific item and listing format you plan to use. Read any restrictions and exceptions in context rather than relying on a broad category label.
- Confirm that the rule applies to the Facebook surface you intend to use. Do not assume a listing rule or feature for Marketplace is identical for a buy-and-sell group or a Page.
- If the policy does not clearly answer your question, seek clarification through Meta’s current help resources before listing.
A listing’s legality under local law is a separate question from whether Meta permits it. You need to satisfy both requirements.
Where else can you sell on Facebook?
Meta describes three Facebook selling surfaces: Marketplace, buy-and-sell groups, and a Page. They are distinct options, not interchangeable guarantees that a particular offer is allowed everywhere. Check the rules for the surface you plan to use. Shipping may be available depending on location, so do not assume that every seller has the same shipping features.

What happens if Meta rejects a listing?
Meta says that using Marketplace in a way that goes against its Commerce Policies or Community Standards may result in Marketplace access being removed. If you believe a listing was rejected by mistake, Meta’s help material describes requesting another review through its appeal form. An appeal is a review request, not a guarantee that the listing will be restored, and Meta’s guidance reviewed here does not establish a response-time commitment.
