That figure is not a single, consistently defined company-wide total: Etermax’s own materials report more than 800 million downloads for its Gaming division in 2022, then more than 400 million for its trivia-and-word-game portfolio in November 2024. The sources do not explain the difference, so the numbers should be treated as distinct claims, not a trend.
How many downloads does Trivia Crack have?
GamesBeat’s September 6, 2024 anniversary report, updated June 18, 2025, says Trivia Crack had generated more than 800 million downloads. That is the clearest source for the headline figure and the scope it describes: the game, rather than a consistently measured total for every Etermax product. GamesBeat’s anniversary report.
Etermax has published two other download figures with different scopes. Its 2022 white paper says the company’s Gaming division exceeded 800 million downloads. A newsroom item dated November 15, 2024 says Etermax’s portfolio of trivia and word games surpassed 400 million downloads. Etermax’s white paper and newsroom.
| Reported figure | Who reported it and when | What the figure covers |
|---|---|---|
| More than 800 million downloads | GamesBeat, 2024 | Trivia Crack, according to the article text |
| More than 800 million downloads | Etermax, 2022 | The company’s Gaming division |
| More than 400 million downloads | Etermax, November 15, 2024 | The portfolio of trivia and word games |
The sources do not provide a shared counting method or explain why the 2024 portfolio figure is lower than the 2022 division figure. The descriptions may cover different products or counting scopes, but the available material does not establish the reason. It would be misleading to read the figures as a decline or calculate a growth rate from them.

What is Etermax, and who created Trivia Crack?
Etermax is an Argentine game developer founded in 2009 by Máximo Cavazzani. Its early work included an iPhone app for buying and selling shares; the company later shifted its focus toward games and entertainment. Its first game, Word Crack—known as Apalabrados in Spanish—arrived in 2011. Trivia Crack, or Preguntados, followed in 2013. Cavazzani’s 2024 interview with iProfesional.
Cavazzani described Trivia Crack as a turning point for the company. In his interview with iProfesional, he said, “Preguntados fue un verdadero catalizador para etermax, marcando un antes y un después en nuestra historia.” In English: “Trivia Crack was a true catalyst for Etermax, marking a before and after in our history.” The English sentence is a translation of his Spanish statement.

How did Trivia Crack become so popular?
The game’s reach came from its trivia format and international distribution, though the available sources do not isolate one cause or quantify the contribution of individual factors. In 2024, Cavazzani told iProfesional that Trivia Crack had reached users in more than 180 countries and 34 languages, and had led the US App Store for 66 consecutive days. These are historical claims attributed to the company’s CEO, not independently audited measures.
A 2015 Google AdMob case study reported more than 160 million Trivia Crack downloads at that point and described an advertising-monetization partnership with Etermax at the time. That figure is a historical snapshot, not a current count, and the case study does not establish that the partnership continues today. Google AdMob’s 2015 case study.

What did Etermax do beyond mobile games?
By its 15th anniversary, Etermax was describing a broader business around its game properties. GamesBeat reported that the company had expanded into books and board games and was developing or launching creator tools, brand solutions, and immersive trivia experiences. It also described Trivia Crack World as a planned multiplayer experience spanning virtual reality, mobile, and desktop. These were initiatives and plans reported in 2024, not confirmation that every product or service remains available now.
In the same anniversary coverage, Etermax described a team of about 300 people, most based in Argentina and Uruguay. Cavazzani also discussed the company’s Brand Gamification division and collaborations in education, banking, and entertainment. The interview mentioned tools for streamers and a planned creator program; it does not establish an affiliate program or current creator compensation terms.
