The appointment brought a former Tapjoy president and CEO, known for mobile gaming and free-to-play experience, into a company positioning itself as a Web3 game discovery platform. The announcement described a strategic fit between conventional user acquisition and monetization and Web3’s play-to-earn approach; it does not establish whether Drobick or the company holds the same status today.
Who is Jeff Drobick, and when did he join Earn Alliance?
Earn Alliance announced Drobick’s appointment as COO on September 4, 2024. The company described him as the former president and CEO of Tapjoy, a mobile advertising and monetization company. It said he would bring traditional gaming operating experience and industry relationships to the role. Earn Alliance’s announcement and a September 5, 2024 report by Mobidictum both covered the appointment.
The available sources confirm the announcement in 2024, not Drobick’s current job status in October 2026. It is therefore more accurate to say he was appointed COO than to describe him as the company’s current COO.
What does Earn Alliance do?
Earn Alliance characterized itself as a Web3 game aggregator and discovery platform: a service intended to help players find games and engage with them, rather than a single game or a game developer’s own distribution channel. The company said Drobick would help introduce and scale its capabilities by drawing on his traditional gaming experience and network.

In the announcement, Earn Alliance CEO Joseph “Coop” Cooper said: “Jeff’s successful track record at Tapjoy and his deep understanding of gaming engagement make him the perfect fit for Earn Alliance as we continue our growth.” That is the company’s rationale for the hire, not independent evidence of the platform’s performance.
Why combine mobile free-to-play experience with Web3 gaming?
Drobick framed the appointment as a meeting of related industry problems and different operating approaches. In a September 2024 LinkedIn post, he wrote, “Earn Alliance is solving for some of the same problems I’m seeing, but coming at them from a Web3/play-to-earn perspective.” He presented his contribution as a Web2/free-to-play perspective alongside the company’s Web3/play-to-earn approach. Drobick’s post provides his own framing of the move.

The distinction matters because free-to-play games commonly focus on acquiring players and earning revenue through engagement and monetization, while play-to-earn models add rewards associated with participation. Discovery and community services operate alongside those models by helping players encounter games; they do not, by themselves, establish how well an individual game retains users or earns revenue. The sources describe the approaches as complementary perspectives, not as proof that one delivers better results.
Drobick also said that effective user acquisition and monetization were priorities for game developers ranging from indie studios to large publishers. His mobile background was relevant to those concerns, while Earn Alliance’s stated focus was Web3 game discovery and engagement.

The appointment signaled that Earn Alliance wanted to apply experience from mobile gaming, user acquisition, and monetization to its Web3 discovery ambitions. For developers, those are relevant operating concerns; for players, a discovery platform may offer another way to encounter games. The announcement alone does not establish the platform’s present scale, the success of its strategy, or Drobick’s current role.
