E-PAL announced on September 5, 2024, that it had raised a total of $30 million across two funding rounds led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Galaxy Interactive. The announcement introduced Balance, E-PAL’s planned Web3 experience infrastructure for social and gaming use. The $30 million is the total reported at that time—not Balance’s latest reported funding figure.
What is Balance?
Balance is E-PAL’s Web3-focused evolution: a platform the company describes as social and gaming infrastructure built around blockchain and AI. Its current website calls it “protocol-based user experience enhancement infrastructure that integrates various Web3 tools.” These are Balance’s descriptions of its product and ambitions, not independent assessments of how widely its infrastructure is being used.
Balance groups its offering into five layers:
- Application: AI companions, an AI-driven battle-report system, score-sharing SBTs and game NFT passes.
- Platform: first- and third-party games, a game NFT launchpad and an NFT marketplace.
- Protocol: a Balance launchpad, protocol and exchange protocol.
- Token: EPT and EPT Fans Token.
- Infrastructure: Balance ID, Balance Chain, Balance Stable Coin and Balance Node System.
The website also claims partnerships spanning more than 180 games, listed as 80+ Web2 games and 90+ Web3 games. Balance does not provide an obvious as-of date for that count, and it has not been independently checked in the sources available.
How E-PAL’s service relates to Balance
E-PAL began as a gaming service that connects players with gaming companions. Balance presents itself as a broader Web3 layer for games and related digital experiences, including tokens, NFTs, identity and blockchain infrastructure. The transition therefore describes a change in strategic focus, not simply a new name for the original companion service.

Balance’s roadmap says E-PAL launched in March 2020 and had 4.2 million users and 450,000 companions by January 2024. It says the team shifted toward AI and blockchain in February 2024, Balance v1.0 launched in July 2024, development of the five-layer infrastructure began in August, and the platform went live in September 2024. These milestones are reported by the project.
What the $30 million figure covers—and what later claims add
The September 2024 announcement said E-PAL had raised $30 million in total after two funding rounds led by a16z and Galaxy Interactive. It is a dated announcement figure. It should not be read as a current cumulative total or as a valuation of E-PAL or Balance.

Balance’s roadmap later reported that its Key Node system launched in November 2024, node token vesting distribution began in December 2024, and Key Node sales exceeded $80 million by February 2025. In the same February 2025 entry, the project described total funding as more than $110 million. That later project-reported figure is not independently verified in the sources reviewed, and the available information does not establish that it is directly comparable with the $30 million described in the earlier announcement.

Why Balance’s user and adoption numbers do not line up neatly
Balance’s website displays 4.2 million E-PAL users and 450,000 companions without an obvious as-of date. A March 11, 2025 company update distributed by ACCESS Newswire made several larger claims: more than 5 million E-PAL users had transitioned to Web3, with a 50%+ activation rate; nearly 10 million registered E-PAL users and nearly 1 million active companions; and 30 million registered users and 2 million daily active users for the platform.

These figures come from different company materials and refer to populations that are not defined consistently enough to reconcile. They are company-reported claims, not independently verified counts. In particular, “E-PAL users,” users who transitioned to Web3, registered platform users and daily active users should not be treated as interchangeable measures.
