DTCP’s June 26, 2024 announcement combined $450 million from two different fundraising events: the final close of its growth-equity fund, DTCP Growth Equity III (GE III), and the initial close of a separate B2B early-stage fund. Only GE III had reached a final close; the early-stage fund had not. Deutsche Telekom was GE III’s anchor investor, while TechCrunch reported that SoftBank was DTCP Growth’s second-largest investor.

What DTCP announced in June 2024

DTCP said the $450 million total came from the final close of GE III together with the initial close of an additional B2B early-stage fund. The combined figure was not the size of either fund individually, and the two close statuses were different. DTCP’s June 26, 2024 announcement described the growth fund’s final close and the other vehicle’s first close.

Additional B2B early-stage fund, identified by TechCrunch as Incharge Capital Early-stage mobility startups; a Porsche joint venture, according to TechCrunch Initial close

The announcement therefore should not be read as saying both funds had completed fundraising. Nor should the $450 million be attributed entirely to GE III.

How Deutsche Telekom and SoftBank were involved

DTCP named Deutsche Telekom as the anchor investor in GE III. TechCrunch separately reported that SoftBank was DTCP Growth’s second-largest investor. That ranking is TechCrunch’s reporting; it is not the same as saying SoftBank anchored the fund or that either investor supplied the full announced $450 million.

DTCP describes itself as an investment manager focused on digitization and automation. Deutsche Telekom’s current overview identifies DTCP as an independent investment management group with Growth and Infrastructure strategies, and continues to identify Deutsche Telekom as an anchor investor. What GE III planned to invest in

DTCP said GE III had already invested in Cognigy.AI, Cohere, Quantum Systems, and anecdotes. The fund’s stated target was approximately 15 to 20 investments, generally ranging from $20 million to $25 million each, in early-growth or growth-stage companies—typically Series B through Series D or later.

DTCP said GE III would focus on Europe, the United States, and Israel. It also described its proprietary DTCP Flightpath software, which analyzes SaaS companies’ financial data and benchmarks them against peers, as part of its investment approach. These are the fund manager’s descriptions of its strategy and tools, not a guarantee of investment results.

What the $450 million does—and does not—tell you about GE III

TechCrunch reported that GE III had raised “$330 million plus-ish,” quoting Managing Partner Thomas Preuß. That is a rounded description of the growth fund’s amount, not a precise allocation of the combined $450 million and not a stated final fund size. TechCrunch also reported GE III’s original $500 million target and $600 million hard cap after its 2022 first close. Those figures are target and cap, not the amount raised at the final close.

Preuß told TechCrunch that the fund had navigated a difficult fundraising environment and said, “We already made four investments which are developing very well.” This was his comment at the time of the 2024 report.

DTCP’s predecessor-fund record

In its 2024 announcement, DTCP reported that its predecessor growth funds had invested approximately $408 million across 33 companies, of which 14 had been acquired or gone public. These are company-reported figures for predecessor funds; they do not describe GE III’s performance or outcomes.

A separate later DTCP fund closing

On September 24, 2026, DTCP announced a first close of €455 million for DTCP Defence Fund I, a separate fund focused on defence, security, and resilience technologies. DTCP said the strategy is Europe-led and NATO-aligned, and named Deutsche Telekom, Porsche SE, EIFO, Danica, and SmartCap among the investors. This later euro-denominated fundraising is unrelated to the combined $450 million announced in June 2024. DTCP’s September 2026 announcement via EQS.
