Dren Bio won the 2025 Prix Galien USA award for Best Startup in the Biotechnology category. The award recognizes a startup, not a biotechnology product: Dupixent received the separate 2025 Best Biotechnology Product award.
What Dren Bio won
The Galien Foundation lists Dren Bio as the 2025 Prix Galien USA Best Startup winner in Biotechnology. The awards program also recognizes startups in other fields; in 2025, Resuscitec GmbH won the Best Startup award in Medical Technology / Digital Health. The Foundation’s awards page describes Prix Galien USA as an annual program whose ceremony began in 2007.

How the startup award differs from the product award
Prix Galien USA separates startup recognition from product awards. Dren Bio’s honor is for Best Startup (Biotechnology), while Dupixent was named the 2025 Best Biotechnology Product laureate. The distinction matters: the startup award is not a product approval or a judgment that one treatment outperformed another.
When the award was presented and announced
The 2025 gala took place in New York City on October 30, 2025, according to the Galien Foundation’s gala release, published the next day. Dren Bio’s company announcement was dated November 4, 2025. The ceremony date and the company’s announcement date are separate milestones.

What Dren Bio says its work involves
In its November 4 award announcement, Dren Bio described itself as a privately held, clinical-stage company developing therapeutics for cancer, autoimmune conditions and other serious diseases. The company said its work uses immune mechanisms to eliminate pathogenic cells and highlighted its autoreactive T-cell depleter DR-01 and its Targeted Myeloid Engager and Phagocytosis platform.
Those descriptions and the accompanying endorsements are company-reported context, not independent evidence of a treatment’s safety or effectiveness. The award itself does not establish clinical benefit, regulatory approval or efficacy. The announcement quoted CEO and founder Nenad Tomasevic, Ph.D., calling the recognition an honor and saying it reflected the strength of the company’s science and the potential of its programs. It also included positive comments from Lewis Lanier, Ph.D., of the University of California, San Francisco, and Miriam Merad, M.D., Ph.D., of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; these were attributed endorsements in the company release, not findings from clinical studies.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the award does—and does not—tell readers
The award identifies Dren Bio as the Biotechnology winner in Prix Galien USA’s 2025 Best Startup category. It does not provide comparative clinical evidence about Dren Bio and other honorees, nor does it certify a drug candidate for use. For readers evaluating the company’s science or financial prospects, the recognition is one piece of company and industry context—not a substitute for clinical-trial results, regulatory decisions or financial disclosures.
