Who was eligible
The official notice specifies the required engineering degree, diploma or ITI trade for each track. Contemporaneous reports say applicants had to be fresh pass-outs from 2021, 2022 or 2023; candidates with postgraduate degrees were told not to apply. Those reports also say registration on the applicable apprenticeship portal was required, and that applicants without registration would be rejected.
- Graduate and diploma applicants needed registration on NATS, according to Scroll’s February 22, 2024 report.
- ITI trade applicants needed NAPS registration, according to Hindustan Times’ February 22, 2024 report.
Applicants should refer to the original 2024 notice for the precise qualification requirements; the categories above are not a substitute for its discipline-specific criteria.

How the application worked—and when it closed
Applicants were asked to complete the prescribed form and mail it in a closed envelope marked “APPLICATION FOR APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING AT ASL.” The notice specified registered or speed post to:
The Director
Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL)
Kanchanbagh PO
Hyderabad-500058
The deadline was 15 days after publication in Employment News. Scroll reported on February 22, 2024, that applications were due before March 8, 2024. That deadline has passed, so this notice is not accepting applications.
How selection was to be made
The official notification did not promise a single examination route. It states: “Selection will be made on the basis of Academic Merit / Written Test / Interview as required.” In other words, selection could be based on academic merit, a written test or an interview, as required by ASL.
What to check for a future DRDO apprenticeship
This article describes the 2024 ASL notice only. For any later recruitment, check the date, laboratory, trade or discipline, eligibility year, portal registration requirement and application method in that notice; the 2024 terms do not establish the requirements for a future opening.
