The Dongfeng Nano Box Lightwind launched in China in January 2023 at RMB 59,700 for the Standard trim—about $8,800 in CarNewsChina’s launch-era conversion. The Lightning and Advanced trims cost RMB 61,700 and RMB 64,700. Those are historical China-market launch prices, not a current quote or evidence of availability elsewhere. Dongfeng stated a 201-km CLTC range for the Lightwind; fast charging was specified for the two higher trims.
How much did the Dongfeng Nano Box cost?
Dongfeng’s February 15, 2023 follow-up lists the China-market Lightwind prices below. CarNewsChina’s January 13 launch report converted the range to USD 8,800–9,600. The dollar amounts are that report’s 2023 conversion of the Chinese prices, not a current exchange-rate calculation.

What range and specifications did the Lightwind have?
Dongfeng declared a 201-km range under the CLTC test cycle for the Lightwind. That is a manufacturer figure, not an independent real-world range test. The January 2023 CarNewsChina report described the model as having a 15.97-kWh CATL lithium-iron-phosphate battery and a 33-kW front motor producing 125 N·m. It also reported a manufacturer-claimed 0–50 km/h time of six seconds. These are launch-report product specifications, not independently measured performance.

Dongfeng’s February follow-up lists 300 L of luggage capacity, increasing to 1,107 L with the rear seats folded. CarNewsChina reported body dimensions of 3,732 × 1,579 × 1,515 mm and a 2,423-mm wheelbase.
Do not apply the Lightwind’s 201-km figure to every Nano Box. Dongfeng’s January announcement describes the wider family as including 201-km, 331-km, and 351-km versions; the 201-km figure belongs to the Lightwind release. Range figures for differently equipped variants are not directly interchangeable.

Which trims support fast charging?
Dongfeng specified fast and slow charging for the Lightwind Lightning and Advanced trims. Its February 2023 follow-up says equipped Lightwind versions could charge from 30% to 80% in 32 minutes using fast charging, or take three hours for a full slow charge. The Standard trim was described as slow-charge-only unless bought with the separately priced fast-charge package promoted at the time.
The launch information does not establish other complete equipment differences between Lightning and Advanced, so price and charging capability are the clearest supported comparison.

Is $8,800 a current price or a price available outside China?
No. The $8,800 figure is the low end of a USD range reported alongside the January 2023 China launch prices. The reviewed announcements establish neither present-day pricing nor local retail availability, import costs, or an authorized seller in another market. A buyer would need to confirm current availability and landed cost with an authorized distributor in their country.

This lineage context does not mean the vehicles share identical specifications, equipment, or market approvals.
