No reliable, like-for-like evidence in the cited materials establishes that Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), or Retik Finance (RETIK) delivered a 30x return during 2024. Since 2024 has passed, the useful question is what a dated comparison can actually prove—not which token might have returned 30x.
What counts as a 30x return?
A 30x price multiple means the ending price is 30 times the starting price: a 2,900% gain before fees. To test whether a token reached that multiple, a comparison needs a common, clearly specified measurement window and reproducible prices. The cited materials do not provide a comparable, independently verified 2024 return series for all three tokens, so they do not support a defensible winner or a claim that any one achieved 30x over a shared window.
A sound retrospective would state the entry and exit timestamps, the exchange or index and quote currency, whether prices are intraday or closing prices, and how fees and slippage are treated. It should also distinguish a token’s price change from an investor’s realized return, which depends on when and how that person bought and sold.

Why RETIK’s 2024 launch date is not a reliable comparison point
Retik Finance’s website said RETIK was scheduled to list on centralized and decentralized exchanges on May 21, 2024. Its whitepaper roadmap instead placed the token launch on DEX and CEX in Q3 2024. Those issuer statements conflict. Neither, on its own, verifies the actual first trading date, the price available to buyers, or subsequent liquidity.
That matters because a presale price, a planned listing date, and a price observed on an exchange are not interchangeable entry points. A claimed RETIK return can change substantially depending on which starting price and timestamp are chosen. Without a verified, common price basis, putting RETIK beside DOGE and SHIB in a 2024 multiple ranking would create false precision.

What the SHIB volatility figure does—and does not—show
The June 28, 2024 CFTC-filed SHIB futures submission reports a 5.2% average 30-day trailing standard deviation of daily SHIB price changes since the start of 2022. That is a historical volatility statistic reported in an exchange filing to the CFTC. It is not an expected return, a maximum-loss estimate, or a comparable volatility measure for DOGE and RETIK. It therefore cannot answer which of the three had the best risk-adjusted 2024 result.
How to judge a 30x claim
- Fix the window first. Specify the exact buy and sell timestamps rather than selecting a token’s lowest and highest prices after the fact.
- Use comparable prices. Name the exchange or index, currency, and price convention, and explain whether the figures are available for each asset over the whole window.
- Separate price performance from realized results. A quoted price multiple excludes transaction costs unless fees and slippage are explicitly included.
- Check what the starting price represents. For RETIK in particular, distinguish presale terms, issuer-stated listing plans, and independently verifiable exchange prices.
- Assess supply and delivery separately. Token issuance, supply figures, roadmap claims, and demonstrated network use are different considerations; none substitutes for a measured return series.
What U.S. regulatory statements add
In a March 23, 2026 joint interpretation, the SEC and CFTC listed DOGE and SHIB among examples of digital commodities, based on the agencies’ understanding of their characteristics and functions at that time. RETIK was not among the examples listed. The interpretation is U.S. federal context, not a universal or permanent legal classification; it also says it does not replace the binding Howey test and solicits public comment. A regulatory characterization does not establish investment merit or a likely return.

The SEC Division of Corporation Finance’s FAQ, updated September 28, 2026, says promotional statements are evaluated based on their facts and circumstances. Its discussion of buybacks notes that their implications can differ depending on whether a system is functional and whether a promoter presents the buyback as creating yield or return. This is staff guidance, not a token-specific determination.
