That clarification was reported on April 23, 2025, and does not establish whether preorders or either fulfillment option are available now.
What Best Buy said about Switch 2 preorder delivery
A Best Buy push notification and earlier website wording appeared to suggest that preorders were pickup-only. Best Buy representative Julia Benda clarified that “shipping and pickup will both be available for preorders.” The retailer’s website was then described as offering in-store pickup or “shipping for delivery at a later date,” according to The Verge’s April 23, 2025 report.

What the clarification does—and doesn’t—mean
- Shipping was an announced fulfillment option: The report said customers could select shipping or store pickup for preorders.
- It did not promise a delivery date: “At a later date” gives no specific estimate for when an order would arrive.
- It does not confirm current availability: The report covered the preorder announcement, which was scheduled to begin at 12 a.m. ET. It does not show whether orders can still be placed or whether shipping or pickup is offered on a current listing.
If you are checking for availability now, rely on the fulfillment choices displayed on Best Buy’s live product page and at checkout.
