Who owns CNN, HGTV, and TLC now?
They are part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s portfolio, which is now under Skydance Corporation through its wholly owned subsidiary WBD. The September 30, 2026, joint announcement from Paramount and WBD listed CNN, HGTV, and TLC among WBD’s brands. The joint announcement described the closing as expected on October 6; Skydance and the SEC subsequently confirmed that the acquisition closed that day. What happened to Netflix’s Warner Bros. bid?
Netflix had a merger agreement with WBD, but it did not complete the acquisition. On February 26, 2026, Netflix said it would not raise its offer after WBD determined that Paramount Skydance’s proposal was a superior proposal under the Netflix agreement. Netflix’s statement

Does the acquisition change the channels or their programming?
The closing announcements establish the ownership change and identify the networks in the companies’ portfolios. They do not establish whether CNN, HGTV, or TLC will change its programming, branding, or channel availability. Those operational questions should not be inferred from the change in corporate ownership alone.
