H-E-B calls the product “H-E-B Fish Market Live Crawfish – Field Run.” The listing describes washed, mostly medium-sized Louisiana crawfish in a half sack averaging 15 pounds, with an estimated serving size of about four people. These are retailer estimates, not guaranteed weights or serving results.
The product page says to allow 12 hours of advance order time, choose curbside pickup, and limits orders to four half sacks. Sales are while supplies last. Listing details can change, so check the terms shown for your selected store.
How to check local price and availability
- Select your H-E-B store on H-E-B’s website or app and look for the live crawfish listing. Store-specific information is more useful than a price or availability shown for another location.
- Contact the store before ordering to confirm current stock, price, order timing, and pickup details. H-E-B’s crawfish page says: “Contact your H-E-B store for information regarding crawfish pricing, availability and purchase of any boiled products!” H-E-B’s crawfish guide and live crawfish listing provide the published details.
A listing does not mean every H-E-B location has live crawfish in stock at all times. Availability and ordering options depend on the store and supply.

How much live crawfish to buy
H-E-B recommends planning on 3–4 pounds of live crawfish per person. Its guide estimates that 6–7 pounds of live crawfish yield about 1 pound of peeled tails, based on a 15% meat yield. For peeled tails, H-E-B says 1 pound of fresh or frozen tails feeds three people. These are H-E-B’s estimates, not universal serving rules; appetite, sides, and how much tail meat you want affect the amount to buy.

Using that per-person guidance, a half sack averaging 15 pounds is roughly enough for four people, consistent with the product listing’s estimate. Because the sack weight is an average, confirm the product details with your store if the quantity matters.

H-E-B advises buying crawfish on the day you plan to cook them, if possible. During transport, keep them iced and covered; at home, keep them moist and cool, use a cooler, and keep them out of direct sunlight. Follow the store’s instructions if they differ.

For preparation, H-E-B suggests boiling crawfish in a large stockpot with corn, andouille sausage, red potatoes, and Cajun spices. Its page cautions against purging crawfish in salt water. If you want to avoid handling and boiling live crawfish, ask the store whether hot boiled crawfish are available.
H-E-B also lists Cajun Land Whole Boil Bags, described as seasoning one sack of crawfish. Check the package directions and your store’s stock before relying on that product for a particular order.
