Do you need a Prime Video subscription for the 2027 Emmys?

Which platform carries each ceremony?
The year matters: the 2026 broadcast and the agreement beginning in 2027 are different arrangements. The Television Academy’s releases describe them as follows:

What does “free on Prime Video” mean?
The Television Academy’s announcement says the stream will be available live and free, with no subscription required. Prime Video is the platform named for the stream, while Prime membership is not a condition of access. Where will the 2027 stream be available?
The Television Academy stated that Prime Video’s live stream will reach more than 240 countries and territories. That is the announced global scope of the deal, not a promise that every location will have identical scheduling, access instructions, or local arrangements.
If you are watching outside the United States, check the Television Academy’s or Prime Video’s event information closer to the ceremony for local timing and territory-specific updates. The available announcement establishes broad international availability, but does not give a country-by-country schedule or instructions.

Was Hulu an option for the 2026 ceremony?
No. Hulu’s help page said the 2026 ceremony would not be televised or available to stream on Hulu. For that event, the announced outlets were NBC and Peacock. This detail is specific to the 2026 ceremony and should not be used to infer where other years’ ceremonies will appear.
What should you do before paying to watch?
