Salesforce has not announced an end to graduate or junior hiring. Its public position is more complicated: the company is pushing AI and digital labor while also arguing that businesses need early-career workers who can work alongside, manage and improve AI systems.
What Salesforce has said about entry-level jobs
At Dreamforce 2025, Zahra Bahrololoumi, Salesforce’s UK&I CEO, argued that companies should not cut entry-level roles simply because AI can perform some of their tasks. “Our message here is: do not sacrifice your entry-level jobs because you do need people that can work through that function, that process that can work alongside the AI to be able to manage and lead that composition of digital and human capital,” she told IT Pro in a report published 16 October 2025.

Her concern was about the future skills pipeline as well as current vacancies. “If companies eliminate entry-level hiring, they will not have the right skill profile to be able to orchestrate and manage the duality, or maybe the multimodality, that will be our future,” she said. In other words, Salesforce’s UK&I leadership has presented junior workers as part of the workforce needed to put AI to work—not simply as a category of labor that AI makes unnecessary.

How that squares with Marc Benioff’s comments on jobs
On Salesforce’s Q1 FY2026 earnings call on 28 May 2025, CEO Marc Benioff was asked about forecasts that AI could eliminate half of entry-level white-collar jobs. He said Salesforce was repositioning employees and hiring, while describing needs for forward-deployed engineers and account executives. He also said, “I can’t hire as many people as I want right now.”
Those comments do not amount to a promise of universal job protection. Benioff has also advocated using digital labor to raise productivity. Read alongside the later UK&I remarks and Salesforce’s recruitment commitment, the evidence points to a company trying to change how work is done and where it hires—not to a stated policy that AI will replace all junior workers, or a guarantee that none will be displaced.

Is Salesforce still hiring graduates and interns?
Yes. In its 6 May 2026 Builder announcement, Salesforce committed to recruit 1,000 graduates and interns through Futureforce. The same announcement said more than 10,000 emerging professionals had been hired through Futureforce. The first number is a stated recruitment commitment; the second is a cumulative hiring figure reported by Salesforce. Neither should be read as a guarantee of a particular number of openings in a given location or job family.

Salesforce also said it had more than 11 million Trailhead learners worldwide. That is a measure of learners using its training platform, not a count of graduates hired or people who have secured AI jobs. Together, the figures show that the company is maintaining education and early-career recruitment routes while it expands its AI agenda.
Does this mean junior software engineers are safe from AI?
No broad conclusion about junior software engineering jobs follows from these statements. They concern Salesforce’s overall hiring posture, a UK&I executive’s argument about entry-level work, and a company recruitment program; they do not provide a role-by-role forecast for software engineers. Nor do they establish that AI has no effect on junior work.
The more defensible reading is that the tasks and skills attached to early-career roles are changing, with some work exposed to automation and new work emerging around AI-enabled systems. A company can hire graduates while automating tasks, reorganizing teams or reducing hiring in particular functions. The available statements do not quantify how many junior jobs are being created, changed or displaced, so claims that AI either eliminates or preserves every junior role go beyond the evidence.

What skills are relevant for an AI-native early-career job?
Salesforce’s stated emphasis is practical generative-AI fluency and the ability to work with agents—not simply familiarity with AI as a topic. Nathalie Scardino, Salesforce’s chief people officer, described the incoming workforce as builders: “The AI-native generation entering the workforce today isn’t threatened by AI. They’re the ones building it.” That is an expression of the company’s hiring and workforce message, not evidence that every early-career opening requires the same skills.
- Use AI tools effectively: Develop practical experience applying generative AI to real tasks, and learn to check outputs rather than accept them uncritically.
- Work with agents: Understand how AI agents fit into a process, what they can and cannot do, and when a person needs to intervene or review their work.
- Build the underlying professional skills: Clear communication, sound judgment and knowledge of the business process remain useful when people are responsible for directing or evaluating AI-enabled work.
- Show how you learn: Trailhead is Salesforce’s learning platform and a place to explore its training pathways. Completing training is not the same as earning a job, but it can help a candidate demonstrate initiative and familiarity with Salesforce tools.
In the UK, Salesforce UK&I CTO Paul O’Sullivan also referred to a government-industry partnership targeting AI-skills training for 7.5 million workers by 2030. That is a training target, not a reported number of people already trained, and it applies to the partnership—not to Salesforce graduate hiring alone.
What the company’s growth figures can—and cannot—tell you
IT Pro reported Salesforce UK&I figures showing approximately 35% commercial-business growth in Q1 2025, double-digit growth in Q2 and expected growth of 31% in Q3. These figures offer business context, but they do not establish that early-career hiring rose by the same amount: revenue or commercial growth is not a headcount measure. Benioff’s hiring comments and the later Futureforce commitment are more direct evidence of the company’s stated hiring activity.

What job seekers and employers should take from the contrast
For graduates and other early-career candidates, Salesforce’s message is neither “AI will not affect your work” nor “there is no point applying.” The company has described AI skills as increasingly relevant and has committed to graduate and intern recruitment, but individual opportunities depend on the role, location and hiring cycle. Candidates should check current vacancies and their requirements rather than infer an opening from a company-wide statement.
For employers, the tension is practical: automating some junior tasks may improve short-term productivity, but eliminating entry-level hiring also removes one route by which people learn an organization’s processes and develop the judgment needed to oversee more complex work. Bahrololoumi’s warning is that a company can weaken its future capacity to manage AI if it stops bringing in early-career talent. That is a workforce-planning argument, not proof that every junior position should be retained unchanged.
