For the U.S. edition, a winner’s prize is publicly confirmed; whether non-winners receive a stipend, appearance fee, or other payment is not established by the public sources reviewed. Corus Entertainment reported that the winner of U.S. Season 10 took home $500,000 USD. That is a cash prize, not evidence of a general contestant salary or per-episode rate.
What payment is confirmed for the U.S. edition?
Corus Entertainment reported in 2023 that Alan Tenta won the U.S. edition’s Season 10 and took home a $500,000 USD cash prize after outlasting nine competitors. Corus Entertainment’s announcement establishes the winner’s prize for that season; it does not publish a pay schedule for the rest of the cast.

HISTORY Channel supervising producer Jeffrey Rodriguez also referred to a $500,000 prize, saying contestants “may think it’s the $500,000 prize but end up realizing it’s something much more profound.” His interview discusses motivation, not contestants’ contracts or routine compensation. Read the HISTORY interview with Rodriguez.
Do the other contestants get paid?
The available official sources do not establish whether non-winners receive a stipend, appearance fee, per-episode payment, or no separate payment. They also do not provide a verified amount for any such compensation. That means it would be inaccurate to present a specific weekly stipend—or to state categorically that non-winners receive nothing—as fact.

The winner’s prize and any participant compensation are separate questions. A prize amount does not reveal whether cast members receive additional payments, and the absence of a published pay schedule does not prove that no such payments exist. Claims about a runner-up’s payment or a contestant’s weekly rate need attributable evidence tied to the relevant season and edition.
Why travel or safety support is not proof of wages
A Channel 4 cast Q&A about the UK edition describes flights and a safety team. Those are production logistics, not evidence by themselves that contestants are paid wages or receive a stipend. One cast member said, “I know there is prize money, but to be honest I didn’t actually know that when I agreed to go on the show.” The excerpt does not identify the speaker, so the statement should not be attributed to a named contestant. See Channel 4’s cast Q&A.

Keep editions and seasons separate
The confirmed $500,000 figure applies to the U.S. franchise’s Season 10, as reported by Corus in 2023. The Channel 4 Q&A concerns a different, UK edition and describes logistics rather than a U.S. compensation arrangement. Do not use evidence about one edition or season to infer the contract terms of another. Special competition formats may also have different prize rules, so check the announcement for the specific season in question.
