Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) paid the highest dividend per share in the nine-company FY2025–26 Tata comparison: ₹110. Tata Elxsi was next at ₹75 per share, while Trent reported ₹6. The ranking measures absolute cash dividend attached to each eligible share—not dividend yield, total cash distributed by a company, or the likely return from buying any of the stocks.
The comparison was published by Mint on October 13, 2026. TCS’s own investor-relations payment table confirms its ₹110 total. Tata Elxsi’s FY2025–26 integrated annual report records ₹75 as a board recommendation for the year ended March 31, 2026.

How TCS reached ₹110 per share
TCS’s official payment record lists five FY2025–26 transactions. The schedule below uses the issuer’s figures and dates.
| Payment | Amount per share | Record date | Payment date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q1 interim | ₹11 | July 16, 2025 | August 4, 2025 |
| Q2 interim | ₹11 | October 15, 2025 | November 4, 2025 |
| Q3 interim | ₹11 | January 17, 2026 | February 3, 2026 |
| Q3 special | ₹46 | January 17, 2026 | February 3, 2026 |
| Q4 final | ₹31 | May 25, 2026 | June 12, 2026 |
| Total | ₹110 | Sum of the five listed payments | |
The ₹46 special dividend is the largest single component. TCS describes its policy as a combination of quarterly interim dividends, a year-end final dividend and occasional special dividends. Mint’s article gives the correct ₹110 total but prints a different tranche sequence (₹10, ₹10, ₹46, ₹10 and ₹34); those component figures do not match TCS’s official payment table.

What Tata Elxsi’s ₹75 means
Tata Elxsi’s FY2025–26 integrated annual report says the board recommended ₹75 per share on ₹10 face-value equity shares for the financial year ended March 31, 2026. That equals 750% of face value. The cited report excerpt establishes a recommendation, not a subsequent payment date, so it should not be described as a completed cash payment without a later company confirmation.
Why the ranking is not a stock-return ranking
Dividend per share is a rupee amount for each eligible share. Dividend yield divides the annual dividend per share by the share price. For example, a ₹10 dividend on a ₹200 share price would imply a 5% yield if that dividend remained unchanged. Because the companies trade at different prices, the ₹110 TCS payout cannot be compared with ₹75 or ₹6 as a percentage return without contemporaneous market prices.
Rank #3
No current share prices or yield calculations are established here. A larger payout also does not automatically indicate a better investment. A useful assessment should examine:
- Yield at the purchase price: calculate dividend per share divided by the price actually paid, using a clearly dated price.
- Sustainability: check earnings, free cash flow, payout ratios and whether a special dividend is non-recurring.
- Growth: consider whether profits and dividends have a credible path to grow.
- Capital needs: businesses requiring heavy future investment may distribute less cash even when they are financially sound.
- Price movement: a share-price decline can outweigh a dividend, while a rising price can produce a gain even with a modest yield.
How to read the FY26 result
- Use ₹110 as TCS’s verified total. It combines four interim or special entries and one final payment in the issuer schedule.
- Treat Tata Elxsi’s ₹75 as recommended. Confirm approval and payment details in the company’s subsequent filing before treating it as received.
- Use the remaining seven figures as comparison figures. They are reported amounts, not independently re-performed calculations in this article.
- Separate absolute payout from yield. Obtain a dated share price before comparing income percentages.
- Investigate the business behind the payout. Review cash generation, earnings outlook and reinvestment requirements rather than selecting solely on the ranking.
Bottom line for Trent and the other Tata companies
Trent’s reported ₹6 per share places it below Tata Chemicals’ ₹11 and above Tata Steel and Tata Motors at ₹4 each, and Tata Power at ₹2.50. TCS is the clear leader on absolute FY26 dividend per share in this nine-company set, but that fact alone does not establish the highest yield or the best investment outcome.
