Digital Bandidos launched in August 2024 as a publisher for independent PC and console games, founded by former Versus Evil employees Steve Escalante and Lance James. Its founders described flexible funding—from support for a specific development goal to full funding—alongside publishing services, with a stated focus on projects carrying budgets of up to $3 million.
What Digital Bandidos offers developers
At launch, Escalante was named CEO and James head of production. The founders said the publisher would focus on PC and console games, particularly role-playing, strategy, and action titles. Its $3 million figure was a stated ceiling for the development budgets of projects it sought to support, not an industry-wide market estimate. GamesBeat reported the launch and founders’ plans.

The company described a range of possible arrangements: funding a defined development goal, providing finishing funds, or fully funding a game. It also said it would consider buying established games when developers wanted to leave a title or redirect resources toward another project. These were options the founders said they could consider; the announcement did not publish standard deal terms.
Current services described by the company
Digital Bandidos’ current About page presents its offer as end-to-end publishing support, including help with PC and console platforms and distribution, marketing, community building, and flexible funding ranging from finishing support to full publishing. The company frames this developer-first approach as a way for teams to spend more time making their games.

The same page says the team has collectively launched hundreds of titles across PC, console, and mobile. That is the company’s own description; the page does not provide an independently audited count.
First announced publishing partnerships
The launch announcement named two initial partnerships: the Town of Salem series from BlankMediaGames and Soulstone Survivors from Game Smithing Limited. The plans below reflect what was announced in 2024, not a guarantee that every initiative remains active or unchanged.

What the announcement means for a developer evaluating a publisher
Digital Bandidos positioned itself as more than a source of capital: it also offered publishing and operational support intended to give developers time to focus on their games. Escalante summarized that pitch in a GamesBeat interview: “In addition to the funding, the big currency we offer game developers is time — time to focus on the game so they can be the creative people that they are.”
The public descriptions establish the categories of support the company says it can provide, but not the terms of a particular deal. A developer considering an offer would still need to establish the funding amount and milestones, rights and recoupment terms, platform and distribution responsibilities, marketing commitments, and decision-making control in the proposed contract. Neither the launch report nor the company’s About page discloses Digital Bandidos’ contract terms.
