Which BMW M2 did the Audi RS 3 beat?
The Nürburgring’s official record table lists the Audi RS 3 at 7:33.123, set on June 7, 2024, and the standard BMW M2 Coupé at 7:38.706, set on April 5, 2023. By those listed times, the RS 3 was 5.583 seconds quicker than the standard M2 Coupé. Nürburgring record table.
That result does not make the RS 3 quicker than every M2. The table lists the BMW M2 CS at 7:25.534, set on April 11, 2025—7.589 seconds quicker than the RS 3’s listed time. The M2 CS is a distinct variant, not another name for the standard M2 Coupé.

These are official record entries from different dates, not a same-day, controlled head-to-head test. The times do not establish that the cars ran in equivalent weather, on equivalent tires, with identical preparation or under the same conditions.

How closely does the RS 3 record match a showroom car?
The Nürburgring describes the record-setting RS 3 as a pre-production vehicle. Its specified setup included Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tires, a 19-inch ceramic brake system, RS sports suspension with adaptive damper control, and an optimized chassis setup. That specification matters when interpreting the time: it is not proof that every customer car has precisely the record car’s equipment or preparation. Audi’s October 28, 2024 release identifies the RS 3 as the top model in its series and gives its five-cylinder turbo engine output as 400 hp and 500 Nm. Audi credits the torque splitter and optimized chassis setup with contributing to cornering performance; those are the manufacturer’s explanations, not an independent comparison test. Was the 2025 Audi RS 3 cheaper than the BMW M2?
The available figures do not support a claim that the RS 3 was cheaper on the 2025 U.S. sticker. Audi Ireland’s MY2025 list gives €61,985 for the RS 3 Saloon with 400 hp, S tronic and quattro. That is an Ireland-market price for a specified RS 3 configuration, not a U.S. MSRP. Audi Ireland MY2025 price list.
The surfaced BMW U.S. page provides current M2 model information, not a historical 2025 U.S. price. It therefore cannot supply the missing like-for-like comparison. BMW U.S. M2 overview. Without matched U.S. base prices for the same model year and comparable configurations, a ranking of the cars’ 2025 U.S. stickers is unresolved.

What a fair sticker comparison needs
- The same country and model year for both cars.
- The exact variants being compared, such as the RS 3 and standard M2 Coupé rather than the M2 CS.
- Comparable base configurations, including transmission and drivetrain where relevant.
- A consistent treatment of destination charges and a clear distinction between MSRP and dealer transaction price.
A quoted price from another country cannot answer which car cost less in the United States: taxes, market specifications and pricing conventions differ. Nor does a base MSRP establish what a buyer actually paid after options, discounts or dealer markups.

For the Nürburgring claim, the precise answer is variant-specific: the RS 3’s listed 2024 time beats the standard M2 Coupé’s listed 2023 time, while the 2025 M2 CS has the quicker listed time. For the sticker claim, the available evidence does not establish a 2025 U.S. winner. A buyer should compare matched local prices and the exact trims under consideration rather than treating the lap-time result or an overseas price as a substitute for a U.S. cost comparison.
