No reliable figure in the available reporting establishes $500 million in Eras Tour merchandise sales. TIME reported Pollstar’s estimate of $440.8 million after the tour’s final 2024 dates, but that estimate was not an audited total and excluded purchases on non-concert days. Guinness World Records separately describes merchandise revenue as about $400 million, also as an estimate. The figures differ, and neither supports saying the tour reached $500 million in merchandise sales.
What the merchandise estimates actually say
The most specific published figure identified is TIME’s report that Pollstar estimated Eras Tour merchandise sales at $440.8 million following the final 2024 dates. TIME says the estimate drew on reports from different venues and an estimated average of $40 in merchandise spending per attendee across the first 60 shows. It excluded purchases made on non-concert days, so it is not a complete total for every sales channel. TIME’s December 9, 2024 report does not present this as audited accounting.
Guinness World Records’ 2024 page describes merchandise sales as about $400 million and likewise frames the amount as an estimate. The two estimates should not be averaged or treated as official final accounts: they are different reported figures, and the sources do not establish a definitive all-channel total.
Merchandise revenue is not the tour’s ticket gross
The Eras Tour’s ticket revenue is a separate measure from merchandise sales. Guinness lists a ticket gross of $2,077,618,725, reported to Billboard Boxscore. Pollstar’s year-end release gives a different figure: an estimated tour gross of $2,201,107,485, combining actual box-office reports with estimates based on venue capacity, historical venue data and other research. Guinness records 10,168,008 attendees across 149 performances from March 17, 2023, through December 8, 2024. Its page lists the tour as the highest-grossing music tour on record, a ticket-gross record—not proof of a merchandise-sales record. Guinness notes that records can change and may not be published immediately, so its listing describes the record status recorded on that page rather than a guarantee that the status can never change.
Why a $500 million claim needs qualification
A claim that merchandise sales reached $500 million goes beyond the estimates cited by TIME and Guinness. The available reporting also does not establish an audited final figure covering every sales channel. In particular, TIME’s $440.8 million estimate excludes non-concert-day purchases; that limitation means the estimate is not a comprehensive all-channel total, but it does not justify adding an unsupported amount or asserting that sales crossed $500 million.

For a personal-finance reader, the key distinction is between a reported estimate and a verified accounting total. Venue reporting and per-attendee spending assumptions can produce a useful industry estimate, but they are not interchangeable with audited revenue. Keep the source and qualification attached to the figure whenever quoting it.

The official 256-page Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Book was a retail product, not part of the merchandise estimate described above. Target announced it as exclusive to Target in the United States at launch on December 6, 2024, describing more than 500 images and Swift’s personal reflections. TIME reported that the book cost $40 and sold 814,000 copies in its first two days, citing Circana BookScan. Target later said nearly 1 million copies sold in the first week, based on its own individual-units-sold data. Those are book sales reported by different sources and on different timeframes; they should not be added to, or confused with, the tour merchandise estimate.
