Those outlets are the basis for linking the aircraft to Ambani; neither Boeing’s product specifications nor the Indian government’s airline fleet figures confirm the reported sale or ownership.
The most precise description is a reported Boeing Business Jet 737 MAX 9. Boeing’s BBJ range is a business-aviation configuration based on its 737 platform, distinct from referring to a standard 737 MAX airliner as a private jet.
What does BBJ 737-9 mean?
Boeing Business Jets describes the family as the BBJ 737 MAX and lists a BBJ 737-9 variant. The “9” refers to the 737 MAX 9 model; “BBJ” identifies the business-aviation offering. Boeing’s model-level specifications explain the platform, but do not establish how VT-AKV is outfitted, who legally owns it, or its exact operating status.

What are the Boeing-listed range and dimensions?
Boeing says the BBJ 737 MAX family has a range of up to 6,600 nautical miles (12,220 km) and can carry 19 or more passengers. These are manufacturer specifications for the family, not verified performance or seating details for the reported aircraft. Actual range and capacity depend on configuration and operating conditions; the available reporting does not provide those details for VT-AKV.
For the BBJ 737-9 specifically, Boeing lists 1,120 square feet (104 square metres) of cabin area and a length of 107 feet 2 inches (32.7 metres). How does the report fit India’s 737 MAX fleet?
India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation said 56 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft were operational in India as of August 1, 2024, operated by Air India Express, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air. That dated government snapshot provides context for the aircraft family’s presence in India. It does not identify VT-AKV or establish whether the reported private aircraft was included in the count.
