Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has earned $598,767,057 in worldwide theatrical box office, a substantial milestone. But that number is ticket sales, not the studio’s profit. Box Office Mojo lists a $350 million production budget, and public figures cited here do not establish the film’s full costs, retained ticket revenue or final studio result. So the film’s box-office performance is clear; whether it made money is not.
How much has The Final Reckoning earned at the box office?
Box Office Mojo lists Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning at $598,767,057 worldwide, divided between $197,413,515 domestically and $401,353,542 internationally. Those are theatrical gross figures: the total paid by moviegoers, not the amount the studio keeps.
| Market | Theatrical gross listed by Box Office Mojo | Share of worldwide total |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic | $197,413,515 | 33% |
| International | $401,353,542 | 67% |
| Worldwide | $598,767,057 | 100% |
These figures are from Box Office Mojo, accessed October 8, 2026. The listing gives a May 23, 2025 domestic release date, a PG-13 rating and a runtime of 2 hours 49 minutes.
Why a nearly $599 million gross does not prove the film was profitable
A film’s box-office gross is not the same as its revenue after theaters take their share. Nor does a production-budget figure account for every cost or income stream. Box Office Mojo lists a $350,000,000 production budget, but that database figure is not a studio-confirmed final cost or a break-even threshold.

- Hunt and the IMF pursue a dangerous AI called the Entity that's infiltrated global intelligence.
- Theaters’ share: Ticket sales are divided between exhibitors and distributors. The worldwide gross does not show how much the distributor retained.
- Additional costs: Marketing, distribution and financing costs are not established in the public figures cited here.
- Other revenue: Home entertainment and licensing can contribute revenue, but no complete accounting of those sources is provided here.
- Studio accounting: No independently verified final profit-or-loss figure or studio break-even calculation is available in the cited sources.
Consequently, subtracting the listed $350 million production budget from the $598,767,057 gross would not calculate profit. It would compare a database-listed production cost with ticket sales before the distributor’s share and other costs are accounted for.
How it compares with the previous Mission: Impossible film
The Associated Press reported in May 2025 that Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One ultimately grossed $571.1 million worldwide. That is historical context for the franchise, not evidence of The Final Reckoning’s profitability. In the same preview, AP described franchise production budgets as close to $300 million; that approximate characterization was not a verified cost for The Final Reckoning.

What the IMAX opening record says—and what it does not
IMAX Corporation reported that the film generated $31 million in global IMAX box office through Monday, May 26, 2025, calling it the franchise’s largest IMAX global opening. IMAX said its screens accounted for 14.2% of worldwide opening-period box office, from fewer than 900 screens.

Those figures describe a bounded opening period and IMAX venues, not lifetime box office. They show the format’s contribution during launch, but they do not determine the film’s final profit or loss. See IMAX Corporation’s May 27, 2025 release.

On the evidence available, it is fair to say the film generated substantial worldwide theatrical sales and posted a major IMAX opening. It is not possible to establish from the cited public figures alone whether the film ultimately made or lost money. “Flop” is therefore not a conclusion supported by the gross or budget listing alone; a reliable verdict would require fuller cost, revenue and studio-accounting information.
