Available ownership summaries do not verify that Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund crossed 5% ownership of Molbio Diagnostics. MF Scanner reported that all mutual funds together held 5.42% of Molbio in August 2026; Investing.com listed Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company at 2.22% as of August 31. Neither figure establishes a Kotak-only stake above 5%, and a separate 4.53% figure for Kotak Healthcare Fund measures a different thing: the share of that scheme’s assets invested in Molbio.
What the reported percentages measure
The figures can look contradictory if their denominators are not made explicit. One is collective ownership by the mutual-fund sector, another is a holder-level shareholding figure, and the third is a fund portfolio allocation. They cannot be substituted for one another.

| Figure | What it refers to | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| 5.42% | Molbio shares held by mutual funds collectively, across 29 funds | MF Scanner, August 2026 |
| 2.22% | Molbio ownership attributed to Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Limited | Investing.com ownership summary, August 31, 2026 |
| 4.53% | Molbio position as a share of Kotak Healthcare Fund’s net assets—not a share of Molbio’s outstanding stock | WealthKit, August 31, 2026 |
The collective 5.42% figure includes funds across fund houses, so it does not show Kotak’s individual holding. Investing.com also lists individual Kotak schemes, including Kotak Equity Hybrid at 1.04% and Kotak Contra at 0.45%. Those scheme entries are not themselves proof of an aggregate Kotak holding above 5%; nor should they be added to other figures without checking the holder definitions, reporting date and whether any positions are already included in a reported aggregate.

For example, a fund can allocate 4.53% of its net assets to a company while owning either a smaller or larger percentage of that company’s shares. The fund’s asset value and the company’s total shares outstanding are different denominators.

Why the 5% crossing remains unverified
The available Molbio investor page lists company reports, offer documents, policies and filings, but its search result did not identify a Kotak substantial-shareholding disclosure. A 2026 filing archive and exchange notices surfaced Regulation 29(2) disclosures for India Business Excellence Fund III in September and October 2026. Those notices concern a different holder and do not verify a Kotak transaction or threshold crossing.
Molbio is the listed issuer in question. An NSE-hosted filing identifies it as a healthcare company and covers unaudited consolidated results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, approved by the board on September 5, 2026. That corporate-results filing provides company context, but it is not evidence that Kotak crossed 5%.

The absence of a matching notice in these search results is not proof that no Kotak filing exists. The ownership figures reviewed are secondary summaries, rather than a directly verified Kotak disclosure or exchange filing establishing the holder, share count, denominator and event date. Until an original document confirms those details, the headline claim should be treated as unconfirmed—not as an established fact or a disproven event.
What would confirm a threshold crossing
A reliable confirmation needs a primary document that identifies who crossed the threshold and the relevant shareholding before and after the event. Before treating a percentage as Kotak’s stake, check whether it refers to one scheme, several Kotak schemes aggregated, the asset management company as a disclosed holder, or all mutual funds collectively.
- Find the original disclosure. Check Kotak’s relevant monthly portfolio disclosure and the applicable exchange filing. A search-result summary or a filing by another investor is not a substitute for the underlying document.
- Identify the holder named in it. Read the exact legal name and determine whether the filing is about a scheme, an AMC or an aggregated group of holdings. Do not assume that similarly named entities represent the same reporting holder.
- Check the denominator and share count. Confirm that the percentage is calculated against Molbio’s outstanding shares, rather than against a fund’s net assets, and check the shareholding pattern relevant to the reported date.
- Verify the date and event. A current ownership snapshot does not by itself establish when a threshold was crossed. The primary filing should make the relevant date and reported change clear.
Regulation 29(2) of the SEBI (Substantial Acquisition of Shares and Takeovers) Regulations, 2011, appears in the surfaced filing summaries. The notices found under that provision were for India Business Excellence Fund III, not Kotak. A regulatory notification should be discussed only with the relevant original exchange document and the applicable, current regulation text; the available material does not establish a Kotak notification or its legal implications.

On the August 2026 summaries, mutual funds collectively held 5.42% of Molbio, while Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company was listed at 2.22%. Kotak Healthcare Fund’s 4.53% was a portfolio weight, not Molbio ownership. These figures do not support saying that Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund crossed 5% of Molbio Diagnostics. A Kotak-specific crossing would require confirmation from the primary disclosure, with the holder and percentage basis clearly identified.
