No. Kanye West, who goes by Ye, did not buy Parler. The platform’s parent company announced a proposed sale on October 17, 2022, but the parties mutually terminated the deal in December before it closed. They did not disclose its financial terms.
What was announced in October 2022?
On October 17, 2022, Parlement Technologies, then Parler’s parent company, said it had reached an agreement in principle to sell the social-media platform to Ye. It expected the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of 2022, but that was a target for a proposed deal—not confirmation that an acquisition had been completed. Contemporary coverage of the announcement reported the proposed transaction.
What did Ye say he wanted to protect?
In a statement reproduced by The Guardian, Ye said: “In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves.” That was his stated rationale for the proposed purchase; it does not independently establish how Parler’s policies worked. The Guardian’s report also quoted Parlement Technologies chief executive George Farmer describing the proposed deal as one that “will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech.” That was a promotional prediction, not an established outcome.
Why did the sale not happen?
On December 1, 2022, Parlement Technologies announced that it and Ye had mutually agreed to terminate the intended sale. The transaction did not close. The termination announcement and contemporary reporting document the cancellation.

Was a purchase price announced?
No. The reported terms were not disclosed, so there is no substantiated purchase price to report. Coverage of the proposed deal did not provide a financial figure for the transaction.
What the announcement does—and does not—tell you
Parler was described in contemporary coverage as a social-media service associated with free-speech positioning and conservative audiences. Reports also discussed earlier disputes over app-store access and hosting related to moderation. That background helps explain the announcement’s framing, but the 2022 coverage does not establish Parler’s ownership, availability, or operating status as of October 8, 2026. Those current details should not be inferred from the abandoned sale.
