Yes. Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced on October 15, 2025, that the income-tax return filing deadline for Tax Year 2025 was extended to October 31 under section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. That deadline has passed; this is a historical update, not current filing advice.
What FBR announced on October 15
FBR’s October 15 press release stated that the Tax Year 2025 return deadline was extended through October 31, 2025, citing requests from trade bodies and tax-bar associations. The release invoked section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. Read FBR’s October 15 announcement.
The release did not list specific taxpayer categories or set out detailed eligibility rules. It should therefore be read as the announcement FBR made at that time, rather than as a complete statement of every individual taxpayer’s circumstances.

What FBR reported about filings
In its October 31, 2025 release, FBR reported 5.9 million returns by 7 p.m., compared with 5 million in the same period in 2024, and described the increase as 17.6%. FBR also reported that 3.6 million taxpayers filed returns with tax payments, an 18.6% increase over the comparable period. It reported individual taxpayer payments of PKR 69 billion versus PKR 60 billion in the corresponding period, a 15% increase. What to do if you are checking a current filing obligation
October 31, 2025 is no longer an available deadline. For a current due date, an extension request, or the consequences of a late return, consult current FBR guidance and use the relevant IRIS or tax-office process. The dated announcements above describe measures for 2025 and should not be treated as current deadline instructions.
