Did Elon Musk Give Trump Groups $100 Million? What the March 2025 Report Says

In March 2025, news outlets reported that Elon Musk planned to contribute a combined $100 million to two Trump-aligned political organizations: MAGA Inc. and Securing American Greatness. The reports described an intended contribution, not a verified completed donation. They appeared the day after President Donald Trump held a White House event with Musk and Tesla vehicles, but the timing alone does not establish that the event caused the plan or involved an exchange.

What did the March 2025 reports say?

On March 12, 2025, Gizmodo reported that Musk planned to give a combined $100 million to MAGA Inc. and the political nonprofit Securing American Greatness, attributing the underlying report to The New York Times. Axios reported the same planned combined amount that day, citing a person familiar with the plans and describing the recipients as organizations in Trump’s political operation.

The $100 million figure was therefore a reported intention, attributed by the outlets to their sources. Neither report, as described in the available coverage, verifies that Musk transferred the full amount.

Did Elon Musk give Trump groups $100 million?

The cited reporting does not establish that the full $100 million was ultimately donated. It reported a plan; that is different from confirming a completed transfer. The Federal Election Commission’s committee page for MAGA Inc. provides information about that committee, but it is not a complete accounting of the combined proposed sum, which also named a separate nonprofit.

Accordingly, the supported answer is that Musk was reported to plan the contributions—not that the $100 million donation is confirmed.

Which organizations were named?

MAGA Inc.

MAGA Inc. is the political committee named in the reports. The Federal Election Commission identifies it as an active monthly hybrid PAC on its committee overview. The Associated Press later described MAGA Inc. as a super PAC.

Securing American Greatness

Securing American Greatness was the second named prospective recipient. The Associated Press described it as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit. It is a different kind of organization from MAGA Inc.; the reported $100 million was a combined proposed amount for both, not a figure attributed to either one individually.

What was the Tesla event at the White House?

On March 11, 2025, Trump held a White House event with Musk and Tesla vehicles. Gizmodo characterized the event as promotional. The reports about the proposed contributions followed on March 12, putting the event and the reported plan in close succession.

Does the timing prove a connection?

No. The reporting establishes temporal proximity: the White House Tesla event came one day before the reports about Musk’s planned contributions. The reviewed accounts do not establish that the event caused the plan, that the proposed money was payment for the event, or that the two were part of a quid pro quo. Those stronger conclusions should not be inferred from timing alone.
