Did Avnet lay off 1% of its workforce?
The company’s FY2026 Form 10-K does not verify a 1% workforce reduction. It describes severance expense related to a reduction, or planned reduction, of approximately 350 employees. Avnet reported approximately 15,040 employees across 48 countries as of June 27, 2026. Avnet’s FY2026 Form 10-K does not characterize the 350 figure as 1% or identify it as a separate action matching that claim.
How many Avnet employees were affected?
The filing’s approximate figure is 350 employees reduced or planned for reduction, primarily in business operations and support functions. Dividing 350 by Avnet’s approximately 15,040 employees gives roughly 2.3%. This is an approximate calculation from rounded figures, not a company-published layoff rate. It also compares the reduction-or-planned-reduction figure with a workforce count dated June 27, 2026; it does not show how many reductions had been completed by that date or confirm that these figures describe the event referenced in the 1% claim.
What does Avnet say about the restructuring?
Avnet reported $87.7 million in restructuring expenses for FY2026: $83.1 million for Electronic Components and $4.6 million for Farnell. The filing says the expenses were primarily related to headcount reductions, including cost-reduction actions in Farnell and Europe, and an announced distribution-center closure in Germany. It does not establish that all approximately 350 affected or planned reductions were in those operations or locations.

The company expected to pay most remaining severance amounts by the end of December 2026. That is a payment expectation stated in the FY2026 filing, not confirmation that all planned workforce reductions had been completed.
What the results release confirms
Avnet’s August 5, 2026 results release reports fourth-quarter and fiscal-year results for the year ended June 27, 2026. It provides the reporting-period context but does not independently confirm a 1% workforce reduction.
