AT&T’s current wireless terms give different AutoPay and paperless-billing discounts depending on the payment method and plan. On Unlimited Premium PL, the published discount is $10 per phone line per month with a bank account or debit card, or $5 with a credit card. Value Plus VL has narrower tiers: $10 with a bank account or AT&T Points Plus Card from Citi, $5 with a debit card, and no discount with other credit cards. Those plan terms do not establish one reduction date or transition rule for all existing customers.
Did AT&T reduce the AutoPay discount?
AT&T’s current terms make the discount depend on the plan and payment method; they do not show that every wireless customer experienced the same reduction at the same time. AT&T’s February 17, 2026 announcement identifies the Points Plus Card as eligible for the full wireless discount, but it does not give a universal effective date or grandfathering rule for existing accounts. Check the terms for your specific plan and any account notice before assuming your discount has changed.
The figures below are published terms for named consumer wireless plans, not an estimate of how many customers are affected. AT&T’s current general offers page also describes payment-method tiers, but plan-specific legal terms are the better guide to an individual account.
How much is the discount on current AT&T wireless plans?

These amounts apply only where the listed plan terms apply. The plan terms and AT&T’s wireless announcement require both AutoPay and paperless billing. The Points Plus Card is an optional qualifying payment method under the Value Plus terms; AT&T’s discount is provided by AT&T, not issued as a card reward. A bank account is also listed as a full-discount method.

When does the discount start?
AT&T says the wireless discount can take up to two billing cycles to begin after enrollment, and customers pay the full plan cost until the credit starts. Value Plus VL’s terms additionally say enrollment must be in place before the bill-cycle close, the discount is not prorated, and certain plan or line changes may pause it until the next full cycle. Check the wording for your plan and the timing of your bill-cycle close rather than expecting a partial-month credit.
How to check or change your settings
- Check the plan: Review the plan name and the AutoPay and paperless-billing terms attached to it. AT&T’s Unlimited Premium PL terms and Value Plus VL terms show different payment-method rules.
- Check the bill or account notice: Compare the AutoPay/paperless credit on your bill with the amount stated for your plan. The public terms do not settle how every legacy account was transitioned, so rely on your account-specific information if it differs from the current named-plan terms.
- Review paperless billing: AT&T’s support instructions say to sign in, select the account, choose Change, then keep or cancel paperless billing. AT&T says mailed monthly bills begin within two billing periods after paperless billing is stopped; some services or credit-status conditions may prevent paper billing.
- Compare payment options: Before changing payment details, weigh the lost or gained monthly discount against any costs or terms associated with your payment method. Do not assume you must open a credit card to qualify for the full discount.

Do wireless and internet discounts follow the same rules?
No. AT&T’s February 17, 2026 announcement gives distinct terms for wireless, eligible internet service, and Internet Air. The wireless tiers above apply to phone lines; do not use them to calculate a home-internet or Internet Air bill. Check the terms for the exact service and plan shown on your account.
