Rivian’s 2025 filing says the order is subject to modification, and Amazon’s original rollout described a goal of having the vans on the road by 2030—not proof that all 100,000 have been delivered.
Did Amazon order 100,000 Rivian trucks?
Amazon and Rivian’s agreement concerns Rivian Electric Delivery Vans (EDVs), commercial vehicles built for last-mile package delivery. Rivian’s 2025 Form 10-K describes Amazon’s order as an initial volume of 100,000 EDVs globally, subject to modification.
Amazon’s CEO described the 2030 ambition during the 2022 rollout: “we’re just getting started on our journey to have 100,000 of Rivian’s vehicles on the road by 2030.” That was a target, not a statement that 100,000 vans were already delivered. Rivian’s filing likewise does not establish that the entire initial volume has been fulfilled.
Are Amazon’s Rivian vans the R1T?
No. Rivian’s R1T is a consumer pickup and its R1S is a consumer SUV; the EDV is a commercial step-in delivery van. They differ in body style, intended use, and buyer: the EDV is designed for fleet delivery work, while the R1T and R1S are consumer vehicles. Rivian identifies the R1T and R1S as its flagship vehicles in its 2025 Form 10-K; that filing also describes 500- and 700-cubic-foot EDV versions for commercial applications.

How many Rivian vans does Amazon have?
The available fleet counts have different dates and scopes, so they should not be treated as directly comparable:
| Figure | What it counts | Date and scope |
|---|---|---|
| More than 35,000 | Rivian EDVs operating globally | Amazon fleet director Emily Barber’s statement, quoted in Rivian’s October 2025 story; manufacturer-specific and dated. |
| More than 50,000 | Electric delivery vans in Amazon’s global operations | Amazon’s June 2026 update; includes Rivian and other manufacturers. |
| More than 40,000 custom vans | Vans across the United States | Amazon FAQ page snapshot; not identified as a current global Rivian-only count. |
Amazon’s June 2026 update says it had more than 50,000 electric delivery vans globally and described its 100,000-by-2030 goal as involving Rivian and other manufacturers. That fleet-wide total is not a count of Rivian vans alone. The earlier Rivian-specific figure—more than 35,000—was attributed to Amazon in Rivian’s October 2025 account of its Canada launch. Neither figure establishes a current 2026 global total for Rivian EDVs.

What have the vans delivered?
Amazon says Rivian vans delivered more than 1 billion packages in the United States in 2024, according to its electric delivery van FAQ. The same page reports more than 40,000 custom vans across the U.S.; that page figure is not a latest global count of Rivian-only vans.
Amazon’s FAQ also reports more than 50,000 chargers at over 250 U.S. delivery stations. The page does not separately date that installation total, so it should not be read as a newly measured 2026 figure.

How many Rivian R1T and R1S vehicles have been built?
The sources cited here do not provide a cumulative combined production count for the R1T pickup and R1S SUV. The “0” in the original headline is therefore not a verified production statistic. An absent cumulative figure is not evidence that no vehicles were built; it means the reviewed sources do not establish the total.
Keep the categories separate when interpreting any number: Amazon’s 100,000 is an initial EDV order volume, the fleet milestones are operating or deployed vehicle counts with stated dates and scopes, and an R1T/R1S total would be a consumer-vehicle production count. Those are different measures.
