No publicly confirmed Amazon–USPS deal is established by the available announcements. Amazon said in March 2026 that it had submitted a bid and was still waiting for a response. USPS later described progress in customer relationships that included Amazon, but did not announce a signed contract. That uncertainty matters as the Postal Service faces a continuing liquidity crisis.
Did Amazon and USPS strike a new deal?
The public statements cited here do not confirm that Amazon and USPS finalized a new agreement. Amazon’s March 18, 2026 statement said it had negotiated with USPS for more than a year, submitted a bid in February, and had not received a response. Amazon said it wanted a new contract before its existing agreement expired on September 30, 2026. These are Amazon’s account of the negotiations, not an independent account of USPS’s position or proof of what happened afterward. Amazon’s statement
USPS Postmaster General David Steiner offered a more positive but still noncommittal update on May 8. He said, “We have seen encouraging developments in certain key customer relationships, including Amazon and DHL.” That indicates movement in customer discussions; it does not confirm an executed Amazon contract or disclose its terms. USPS Board of Governors remarks
A September 10 Federal Register notice lists USPS negotiated-service-agreement filings, including entries with materials under seal. The cited entries do not identify Amazon as a counterparty, so they cannot establish that a filing concerns Amazon or reveal an Amazon agreement’s terms. Federal Register notice

- HOODIE-READY SIZE & BUNDLE CAPACITY: Stop worrying about fit. At 14.5" x 19", these mailers are specifically sized for high-volume clothing sellers. Comfortably fit thick winter hoodies, denim jeans, or Poshmark bundles that smaller 12x15" bags can’t handle. The generous width allows you to seal the flap without forcing the seams, ensuring a professional look for every order.
- TAMPER-PROOF "SET & FORGET" ADHESIVE: Engineered for high-stress transit. Our ultra-strong, wide adhesive strip creates a permanent seal that won't "pop" under pressure from bulky items or melt in hot delivery trucks. Once sealed, it is tamper-evident—it will tear the bag before opening—giving you and your customers peace of mind that the contents are secure without needing extra packing tape.
- HEAVY-DUTY TEAR & PUNCTURE RESISTANCE: Built to survive the warehouse floor. These waterproof mailers feature reinforced side seams and high-density polyethylene that resists punctures from shoe box corners, book edges, and zippers. They offer the professional "heft" of brands like Fuxury, ensuring your apparel arrives clean, dry, and rip-free even in rain or rough handling.
- 100% OPAQUE FOR TOTAL PRIVACY: Protect your brand and your customer’s privacy. The multi-layer white exterior is completely opaque—zero transparency even when shipping black leggings or bright neon apparel. The clean, crisp white surface provides a professional "boutique" feel and is optimized for thermal labels and permanent markers, ensuring barcodes scan perfectly every time.
- THE SMALL BUSINESS "SWEET SPOT" VALUE: This 100-pack offers the perfect test quantity for occasional sellers and growing small businesses who need "bulk-grade" quality without the storage headache. Designed to be lightweight to keep you in lower USPS Ground Advantage tiers, these mailers save you money on both material costs and postage compared to bulky boxes.
What did each side say, and what does it establish?
| Source and date | Public statement | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon, March 18, 2026 | Amazon said it had submitted a bid in February and had not received a response. It said it wanted to increase USPS volumes and characterized USPS as having walked away from talks in December. | Amazon’s account of an unresolved negotiation at that time; not independent confirmation of USPS’s actions or a later outcome. |
| USPS, May 8, 2026 | Steiner cited “encouraging developments” in key customer relationships, including Amazon and DHL. | USPS’s acknowledgment of positive movement; not confirmation of a signed Amazon contract. |
| Federal Register notice, September 10, 2026 | Lists negotiated-service-agreement filings; cited entries do not name Amazon as the counterparty. | Evidence of filings, not proof that a particular filing is an Amazon deal. |
Amazon’s statement said: “Our goal was to increase our volumes with USPS, not reduce them—until USPS abruptly walked away at the eleventh hour in December.” That is Amazon’s characterization of the talks, not a mutually established account.
Why is USPS facing a cash crisis?
USPS reported operating revenue of $19.9 billion and a GAAP net loss of $2.5 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. Despite year-over-year improvement, the agency said its liquidity crisis continued. In its August 7, 2026 results statement, Steiner said, “Nevertheless, the Postal Service is today continuing to face a severe liquidity crisis, and our financial losses this quarter reflect systemic challenges inherent in our Congressionally established business model and regulatory framework.” USPS third-quarter results

The Postal Regulatory Commission also granted a waiver that could free approximately $2.4 billion in fiscal year 2026 and potentially $15 billion or more by the end of fiscal year 2030 for USPS to use for other purposes, including operating expenses and capital investment. Those are estimates of the waiver’s potential scope, not amounts the agency has already used. Postal Regulatory Commission announcement, April 9, 2026
The agency’s reported loss and liquidity warning show that the cash crisis extends beyond any single customer negotiation. The available figures do not establish that an Amazon contract would resolve USPS’s broader financial challenges.

What is known about other USPS shipping agreements?
In May 2026, USPS and DHL eCommerce announced a separate multi-year last-mile agreement, which DHL described as worth more than $10 billion. It is evidence of a major USPS customer relationship, not an Amazon transaction, and its value should not be attributed to Amazon. DHL eCommerce announcement

The cited public materials do not establish what USPS’s Amazon delivery service will be after the existing contract’s stated September 30, 2026 expiration date, or whether a replacement agreement was executed. They do not disclose a final contract’s duration, price, package-volume commitments, geography, or operational effect. Without a direct announcement from Amazon or USPS, claims about whether USPS will continue delivering Amazon packages—or what would happen if talks failed—would go beyond what is confirmed.
