Clowes said in a BBC Radio Derby interview reported on 1 July 2024 that he was open to investment, saying, “We wouldn’t turn down investment if we go down that route, obviously.” He also described Derby as having “a great platform to work from” and “a good Championship budget.” These were comments about the club’s position at that time, not confirmation of a deal.
