Delta’s reported “biggest-ever” announcement is a larger summer 2027 schedule at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), not a new service plan for U.S. snowbirds. Air Canada separately announced a summer 2027 expansion of its intercontinental network. Neither announcement, as reported, establishes new Delta routes aimed at Canadians wintering in the United States.
What Delta announced for summer 2027
Parade reported on September 18, 2026, that Delta and its partners expected to offer more than 200 daily departures from LAX to nearly 70 destinations at the summer 2027 peak. The “biggest-ever” description refers to this LAX schedule—not to Delta’s entire network or a snowbird program. Parade’s report describes two new nonstop routes and more flights on existing routes.
New LAX routes and start dates

The Monterey service is scheduled to begin in December 2026, but the announcement does not characterize it as a Canada-to-U.S. winter route or a snowbird offering. The Philadelphia flight is scheduled to start in June 2027.
Reported frequency increases
Delta also reported plans to increase service from LAX on seven existing U.S. routes:

These are reported schedule plans, not a promise that every future flight will operate unchanged. Check Delta’s live timetable before booking.
How Air Canada’s announcement differs
Air Canada’s separate announcement concerns its intercontinental network for summer 2027. Travel Market Report Canada reported on September 3, 2026, that the airline planned five new international destinations and seven new routes. Examples in the report include Vancouver–Guangzhou; Toronto service to Oslo, Shannon and Nice; and Montréal–Basel and Montréal–Dubrovnik. Read the report.

The airlines’ “biggest-ever” claims describe different parts of their networks, so they are not directly comparable measures of overall size.
Does Delta fly to Florida from Canada, or add winter flights for snowbirds?
The announcements described above do not establish either a new Canada-to-Florida route or a Delta winter schedule designed for Canadian snowbirds. The Delta routes and frequencies reported in the announcement are tied to LAX; the Air Canada expansion is intercontinental. A traveler considering a particular Canadian city, U.S. destination and travel date should search the airline’s current booking timetable for that exact itinerary rather than infer availability from these announcements.

What the historical Canada–U.S. capacity figures can—and cannot—show
Cirium’s April 3, 2025 analysis compared airline schedules for April–June 2025 with schedules filed in January. It found that Canada–U.S. scheduled seats for that three-month period were 4.4% lower than in the January schedule. In April year over year, Cirium counted 121,417 Delta scheduled seats, up 1.68% from April 2024, and 623,461 Air Canada scheduled seats, down 9.20%. These are scheduled-seat counts in a historical analysis—not passenger totals, bookings, snowbird-only capacity or evidence of winter 2026–27 demand. - Search the airline’s live timetable for the precise origin, destination and dates; future schedules can change.
- Confirm whether the itinerary is nonstop or involves a connection, and review the operating airline and departure airport.
- For entry or registration requirements, consult current U.S. government guidance for your circumstances. A 2025 PAX News roundup described a registration requirement for some Canadian visitors staying more than 30 days who did not receive an I-94, and cited Form G-325R; that secondary report is not a substitute for current official instructions. PAX News’ roundup also reported a survey result, but without the underlying survey method available here it should not be treated as representative of all Canadian snowbirds.
Delta also described plans for an additional 11,000-square-foot Sky Club at LAX Terminal 2 in 2027 and four lounges across Terminals 2 and 3 by 2028. Those are planned airport facilities, not confirmed amenities for a particular booking; check current airport and airline information if lounge access affects your travel budget or plans.
