That date has passed, but available listings conflict, so they do not establish whether the venue reopened or what its current hours are.
What was announced about the reopening?
PerthNow reported on 4 November 2025 that Golden Hotels had bought the De Bernales pub and restaurant after it closed following liquidation in late 2024. The report said Golden Hotels also owned the Tower and Albion hotels. PerthNow’s report attributed the reopening details to Golden Hotels operating manager Michelle Roberts, speaking to the Kalgoorlie Miner.
Roberts described the end of January as a target conditional on major renovations going smoothly. In context, the target was the end of January 2026—not a confirmed opening date. The announcement alone does not show that the work finished or that the venue reopened.
What was the planned venue concept?
The plan was to keep the Debos name and broadly familiar feel. Roberts told the Kalgoorlie Miner, as quoted by PerthNow: “It will still be called Debos because we all agreed that it wouldn’t matter (if you changed the name), everybody is still going to say Debos.” She also said: “We still want that same vibe, because that same vibe works.”

Did De Bernales reopen as planned?
The available later directory records do not settle the question. Perth Localista, in a listing last updated 7 August 2026, gives daily hours of 6am–10pm. HappyCow, in a listing last updated 20 March 2026, labels the venue closed and says it was reported closed in January 2026. The listings conflict, and neither is authoritative confirmation of the venue’s present status.
Accordingly, the January 2026 target should not be treated as proof of reopening, and directory hours should not be relied on as confirmed current hours. No verified outcome for the reopening, the proposed changes or the operating schedule is established by these records.
