Pollstar also reported a specific two-night Madison Square Garden stand on November 17–18 that grossed $3,713,962 on 31,631 tickets. That is the reported event gross, not net proceeds, Matthews’s pay, or an estimate of his net worth. The band-wide historical total and the two-night stand describe different scopes and time periods.
How did Dave Matthews make his money?
Matthews is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and frontman closely associated with DMB, according to Biography.com’s 2023 profile. The documented dimensions of his career include live performance, songwriting, and recordings. These are plausible income sources for an artist with that career, but the sources cited here do not disclose how much Matthews earned from any of them.

What is known about DMB’s philanthropy?
The official DMB site says the Bama Works Fund has raised over $65 million and made over 2,600 grants. These are figures for the fund and band, not proof of Matthews’s individual donations or personal wealth.
Pollstar’s October 17, 2024 coverage quoted DMB manager and Red Light Management founder Coran Capshaw: “Beyond their impressive ticket stats and album sales, I’m really proud of how they’ve done so much philanthropic good in the world — raising over $65 million for a wide variety of causes in their hometown and around the world, planting over 5 million trees, and always stepping up to the plate in times of disaster relief,”. This is Capshaw’s statement about the band’s philanthropic work, not an audit of Matthews’s finances. The official site currently describes almost 4 million trees planted and says DMB partnered with The Nature Conservancy to plant a million trees a year since 2020; the different tree totals have different reporting dates or scopes and should not be combined into one definitive figure.
