What was Danny Ings estimated to earn at West Ham?
Capology’s 2024–25 West Ham salary table estimates Ings’s fixed gross salary at £125,000 per week, or £6,500,000 per year. FBref lists the same weekly amount for that season but explicitly labels it an “Unverified estimation.” The matching figures show that the number circulated in two salary databases; they do not establish the terms of Ings’s contract.
Capology describes its salary amounts as estimates rather than official figures. Neither source establishes that West Ham or Ings publicly confirmed the precise wage. The “eye-watering” description is therefore headline framing around a reported estimate, not a verified contractual disclosure.

How do the salary and bonus estimates differ?
Capology separates its fixed-salary estimate from estimated bonuses and total annual gross compensation. It lists an estimated £975,000 annual bonus and £7,475,000 in estimated total annual gross compensation for 2024–25. These are database estimates too; Capology notes that historical bonus information may be incomplete.

The table does not show what bonus Ings actually received. Nor does it establish take-home pay, tax deductions, contract length, or West Ham’s full employment cost.
Was this a current West Ham wage?
No. The £125,000 weekly figure belongs to the 2024–25 season estimate. The Premier League’s summer 2025 transfers listing identifies Ings among West Ham’s released players. That listing records his subsequent status with the club; it does not specify the exact date or terms of any later employment.

Does the estimate have a connection to Middlesbrough?
The salary and release sources support a West Ham wage estimate and a later release listing. They do not establish that Middlesbrough paid, offered, or negotiated the reported West Ham figure. The club reference in the headline should not be taken as evidence of a Middlesbrough wage arrangement.
