Its best desktop-CPU offers are now historical, not live bargains: the standout deals included AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D near $454, Ryzen 7 7800X3D near $384, Ryzen 5 7600X near $204, and Intel’s Core Ultra 7 265K at $259.99 with a cooler-and-game bundle. The right deal depended on more than the sticker price: motherboard, memory, cooling, and any bundle items changed the real cost.

Which 2025 deal was best for each kind of buyer?
Best gaming deal: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
The 9800X3D was the premium gaming pick in 2025 coverage. It has 8 cores, 16 threads, boost speeds up to 5.2 GHz, 96 MB of L3 cache, and a stated 120 W power rating in the cited deal coverage. At roughly $454, the discount was modest, but that price was notable for a high-demand chip that a separate July report placed around $479 under usual pricing. It made most sense for a high-end gaming build where the CPU would not force a major compromise on the graphics card.
#1 Best Overall
- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Drop-in ready for proven Socket AM5 infrastructure
- Cooler not included
Its gaming-focused cache does not make it the best CPU for every workload. For rendering, compilation, encoding, or other heavily threaded tasks, compare higher-core-count Ryzen 9 and Intel alternatives rather than paying a premium for gaming performance you may not use. PC Gamer’s sale coverage discusses the gaming positioning and Ryzen 9 alternatives: PC Gamer’s component deals coverage.
Best gaming value: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
The 7800X3D offered 8 cores, 16 threads, boost speeds up to 5.0 GHz, 96 MB of L3 cache, and a stated 120 W rating. Its reported Cyber Monday-week price of about $384, with a free cooler noted, made it the value choice if the gap to the 9800X3D was more important than having the newer chip. A separate earlier sale at $338 shows that $384 was not the lowest reported 2025 price; it is useful context, not proof that the earlier price was available on Cyber Monday.
Before choosing it, compare the price with the 9800X3D and mainstream Ryzen options. A sale is less attractive if the price difference is small or if the included cooler does not meet your noise or sustained-workload needs.

Best affordable AM5 option: Ryzen 5 7600X
At about $204, the 6-core, 12-thread 7600X was a strong entry point for an AM5 gaming or everyday system. Deal coverage listed boost speeds up to 5.4 GHz, 32 MB of L3 cache, a stated 65 W rating, and a free cooler. It was a sensible fit for buyers putting more of a fixed budget toward the GPU, but six cores are a compromise for heavy productivity or a high-end workstation build.
Best Intel deal: Core Ultra 7 265K
The reported $259.99 price was $50 below the stated $309.99 prior price. The offer also included an AIO liquid cooler and a game promotion, so its effective value could exceed the CPU-only saving for a buyer who wanted both items. The processor has 8 P-cores and 12 E-cores. This was the strongest Intel bundle highlighted in the coverage, particularly for mixed workloads or someone already budgeting for a compatible Intel system.
It was not automatically cheaper than an AMD build. The 265K requires an LGA1851 motherboard and DDR5, and the bundle only saves money if the cooler and game are actually useful. The listed promotion details are in PC Gamer’s 265K deal report.

- AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Gaming and Content Creation Processor
- Max. Boost Clock : Up to 5.7 GHz; Base Clock: 4.3 GHz
- Form Factor: Desktops , Boxed Processor
- Architecture: Zen 5; Former Codename: Granite Ridge AM5
Budget Intel: Core Ultra 5 245KF or 225F
PC Guide reported advertised discounts of about 38% for the 245KF and 32% for the 225F, but the cited coverage does not establish independently checked sale prices or a price-history baseline. Treat those percentages as listing claims, not proof that either was the best-value CPU. Both are LGA1851/DDR5 options; the KF and F suffixes indicate models without integrated graphics, so a system that needs onboard display output or graphics troubleshooting should account for that limitation.
Best upgrade for an existing AM4 PC: Ryzen 7 5700X
The 5700X’s reported discount of about 57% looks dramatic, but the cited deal coverage does not supply an independently verified price comparison. Its practical case is strongest for an existing AM4 owner who can reuse a compatible motherboard and DDR4 memory. For a new PC, compare the complete cost of an AM4 system with an AM5 build; the percentage off a single older-platform CPU does not settle that choice.

Were the deals actually available on Cyber Monday?
Cyber Monday was December 1, 2025, and Amazon described its broader Black Friday/Cyber Monday event as running November 20 through December 1. That event window does not prove that every retailer’s CPU price lasted through the final day. Newegg’s promotion material, for example, specified some offers for November 20–29, demonstrating that a Black Friday-week deal could end before Cyber Monday itself.

Deal roundups use “Cyber Monday” broadly, and prices may be retailer-specific, coupon-dependent, limited by stock, or replaced during the sale. The cited coverage establishes reported prices during the Cyber Monday-week period, not a complete minute-by-minute record of December 1 availability for each CPU. Newegg’s terms are at its 2025 processor and cooling promotion page; Amazon’s event dates are described at Amazon’s 2025 sale announcement.

Compare against normal street price, not just a crossed-out list price
A listed “was” price can exaggerate a saving if the processor usually sold for less. Check multiple retailers and, where possible, historical price tracking. Compare the actual checkout price after coupons or rebates; the cited deal summaries do not establish shipping, tax, or every offer’s coupon and membership conditions.
Add the full platform cost
Use this calculation rather than comparing processor prices alone:
Best Value
- Can deliver fast 100 plus FPS performance in the world's most popular games, discrete graphics card required
- 6 Cores and 12 processing threads, bundled with the AMD Wraith Stealth cooler
- 4.2 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 19 MB cache, DDR4-3200 support
- For the advanced Socket AM4 platform
Total upgrade cost = CPU + motherboard + RAM + cooler and mounting hardware + shipping and tax − the value of bundle items you would otherwise buy.
AM5 uses DDR5, not DDR4. Core Ultra 200 desktop processors use LGA1851 and DDR5. A Ryzen 5000 chip such as the 5700X uses AM4 and DDR4. The CPU and motherboard must also match the socket, and the board must support the processor’s firmware requirements. See Tom’s Hardware’s CPU price and platform context.
| CPU family | Socket/platform | Memory | Buyer check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 9000 | AM5 | DDR5 | Confirm motherboard BIOS support. |
| Ryzen 7000 and X3D | AM5 | DDR5 | Confirm BIOS support and cooler fit. |
| Ryzen 5000 | AM4 | DDR4 | Best value case is usually an existing AM4 system. |
| Core Ultra 200 desktop | LGA1851 | DDR5 | Requires a compatible 800-series motherboard. |
| Core i7-14700K/KF | LGA1700 | DDR4 or DDR5, depending on the motherboard | Match the board and memory type to the exact system. |
Value the bundle only if you would use it
A cooler is not a saving if it lacks the right mounting hardware or you replace it immediately. A free game has little value if it is not one you want. Likewise, a CPU-and-motherboard bundle can be worthwhile only if the board has the features and compatibility your build needs.
Check seller, stock, and return conditions
- Confirm whether the seller is the retailer or a marketplace third party.
- Check whether the item is new retail packaging, open-box, or a tray/OEM processor; warranty and included accessories can differ.
- Review return and warranty handling, plus any rebate submission or payment-method requirements.
- Verify that the offer was in stock and that the coupon applied at checkout.
AMD versus Intel: choose by workload and platform
For gaming, 2025 coverage favored AMD’s X3D processors, with the 9800X3D as the premium option and the 7800X3D as the better value when substantially cheaper. For content creation and other parallel work, core count and sustained cooling matter more; a Ryzen 9 or a suitable Intel alternative may be a better fit. For general use, a less expensive six- or eight-core CPU can leave more budget for the GPU or storage.

But LGA1851 and DDR5 still add platform cost, and a bundle does not establish that the CPU beats an AMD alternative in every workload. Compare the total prices of compatible CPU, board, memory, and cooling combinations before choosing a brand.
Final ranking of the 2025 offers
- Best gaming performance: Ryzen 7 9800X3D, for buyers seeking the leading gaming option and able to afford the broader AM5 build.
- Best gaming value: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, when its price was meaningfully below the 9800X3D.
- Best mainstream AM5 deal: Ryzen 5 7600X at about $204, especially for gaming and everyday use.
- Best Intel offer: Core Ultra 7 265K at $259.99 with the reported cooler and game promotion, if the bundle and platform suited the buyer.
- Best older-system upgrade: Ryzen 7 5700X for an existing AM4 owner who could reuse the platform.
- Most caution needed: Core Ultra 5 245KF/225F and Ryzen 7 5700X advertised percentage discounts, because the cited coverage does not establish independently verified sale-price baselines.
These rankings describe historical U.S. deals, not current purchasing advice or live prices. Standalone desktop CPU offers are also distinct from discounted prebuilt PCs, which do not establish a component’s sale price.
