The CTET July 2024 application window is closed: the exam was held on July 7, 2024. CBSE’s original deadline was April 2 at 11:59 p.m.; a contemporaneous Scroll report said the deadline was extended through April 5, 2024, before 11:59 p.m. The official extension notice was not independently located, so April 5 should be understood as the date reported by Scroll, not as a directly verified CBSE notice.

What was the CTET July 2024 application deadline?

CBSE’s March 5, 2024 public notice and the July 2024 information bulletin set April 2, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. as the original deadline to submit the application and pay the fee. Scroll reported on April 5 that a notice had extended the online application deadline to April 5 before 11:59 p.m. The 2024 application period has ended; these dates are historical, not instructions for a current CTET cycle.

CBSE announced the 19th CTET edition for July 7, 2024, with examinations in 20 languages and 136 cities. The bulletin scheduled Paper II from 9:30 a.m. to noon and Paper I from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on that date.

How candidates applied for the July 2024 exam

The 2024 bulletin directed candidates to apply online through the official CTET website. Its process was:

  1. Register on the official CTET site and complete the online application form.
  2. Keep the application or registration number generated during the process.
  3. Upload a recent photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format that met the bulletin’s size and dimension limits.
  4. Pay the applicable fee online and retain the confirmation page.

The bulletin warned candidates not to submit multiple applications. Its image requirements applied to the July 2024 cycle only: a photograph of 10–100 KB measuring 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, and a signature of 3–30 KB measuring 3.5 cm × 1.5 cm.

July 2024 fees and choosing one or both papers

The July 2024 fee schedule depended on category and whether a candidate chose one paper or both. Applicable GST was extra.

Category One paper Both papers
General/OBC(NCL) ₹1,000 ₹1,200
SC/ST/differently abled ₹500 ₹600

Paper choice depended on the teaching level sought. Paper I covered classes I–V; Paper II covered classes VI–VIII. Candidates seeking eligibility for both levels had to take both papers. For Paper II, the subject block offered the relevant Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Science pathway.

What each paper covered—and what qualifying meant

Each paper consisted of 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks, with one mark per item and no negative marking. Paper I had five compulsory sections. Paper II included common pedagogy and language sections plus a subject block. The 2024 bulletin cited a 60% or higher TET pass threshold established in an NCTE notification dated February 11, 2011.

Candidates were responsible for checking that they met NCTE minimum qualifications and relevant recruitment rules. Permission to sit the test did not establish eligibility for a particular job. As the CTET July 2024 Information Bulletin put it: “Qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for Recruitment/Employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.”
