This crypto news update was published on December 29, 2023—not a current market report. TechBullion’s press-release article claimed Solana had a record number of holders, said Retik Finance had raised more than $2 million in its presale, and described speculation about a Shiba Inu New Year surprise. It did not confirm that the rumored SHIB event would happen.
What did the December 2023 crypto news update report?
TechBullion’s December 29, 2023 article was labeled a press release. Its project and token figures should therefore be read as claims made in that article, not as independently verified findings or a description of current conditions.
What did it claim about Solana holders and staking?
The article said Solana holders had exceeded 9.15 million, describing this as a 20% increase since November 2022. It also claimed that more than 70% of circulating SOL—about 330 million tokens—was staked. Those are dated figures from the 2023 article; they should not be treated as current counts.
A later measure illustrates why dates and definitions matter. On September 26, 2026, Solana Compass reported Birdeye Data’s Q3 figure of 8.38 million wallets holding SOL, up 20.5% quarter over quarter. The report notes that one person can control multiple wallets. A wallet count is not necessarily a count of people, and this later measure cannot be directly compared with the 2023 article’s “holders” figure without reconciling the sources and definitions. Solana’s official August 2026 ecosystem roundup reported 216 million non-vote transactions in one day and a 300 ms target slot time. Those are network activity and performance figures, not confirmation of the older holder or staking claims.
What did Retik Finance say it had raised?
The TechBullion article said Retik Finance had raised more than $2 million within three weeks of starting its presale. It also described DeFi debit cards and a payment gateway as project aims. The article gave a stage-three presale price of $0.050, compared with a stated starting price of $0.030. These are historical, promotional claims attributed to the press-release article; they do not establish that the funds raised or products were independently verified, that the products were delivered, or what the project’s current status or token price is.

What was the Shiba Inu New Year surprise?
The article did not identify a confirmed surprise. It reported community speculation ahead of New Year’s Eve and listed Shibarium, a metaverse project, and a partnership as possible developments. It said the exact nature of the surprise remained unknown. Those possibilities should not be recast as an announced launch or confirmed event.
