Crypto Indicator That Signalled the 2021 Bull Run Flashes Again? What the Evidence Shows on TAO, DTX and HBAR

A headline says a 2021 bull-run crypto indicator has flashed again and recommends three tokens. Here is what can and cannot be verified, and how to check the claim yourself.

The headline’s central claim cannot be confirmed. The indicator it names, the date of any current signal and the analyst behind the three picks could not be identified, so there is no verified basis for saying a 2021-style bull signal has returned or that Bittensor (TAO), DTX Exchange (DTX) and Hedera (HBAR) belong in a portfolio on the strength of it. This article explains what the claim would need to show, what the closest published material says, and how to test a similar claim yourself.

What the headline claims, and what is missing

The headline combines three separate assertions, and each one needs its own evidence.

  • An indicator “signalled” the 2021 bull run. The headline does not name it. Several on-chain and market indicators are discussed in connection with that cycle, and a claim about one says nothing about another.
  • The indicator “flashes again.” This requires a current reading that meets the indicator’s own published definition and threshold. We found no such reading tied to the headline.
  • An analyst recommends TAO, DTX and HBAR for “top crypto gains.” We could not locate the analyst, the recommendation or any reasoning that connects the indicator to these three assets.

The first link is missing, so the other two cannot be checked. A recommendation built on an unnamed signal from an unnamed source is an assertion, not a finding.

The closest published material: MVRV coverage

The nearest documented material is a NewsBTC article, republished by Euvolution, that discusses how the Bitcoin MVRV ratio behaved around the 2021 cycle and in later market periods. MVRV compares Bitcoin’s market capitalisation with its realised capitalisation, which values each coin at the price it last moved on-chain. Analysts use the ratio to judge how far the market price sits above or below the aggregate cost basis of holders.

That coverage is useful background, but it does not settle the headline question:

  • It does not present itself as the indicator the headline means.
  • Describing how a ratio behaved in 2021 does not show what it reads today.
  • It cannot establish whether any signal is active now.

Read historical coverage as a description of past behaviour. A current reading requires live data and the indicator’s exact definition.

How to test a “signal has flashed again” claim

The same checks apply to any indicator headline. Work through them in order. If a step fails, treat the claim as unverified and stop.

  1. Name the indicator and its exact definition. Find the formula, the data source and any thresholds the author uses. If the article says “a signal” without naming one, the claim fails at this first step.
  2. Find the original publication and its date. Check whether the threshold was published before the cycle it is now said to have called. Thresholds chosen after the fact to fit past tops and bottoms are not predictions.
  3. Pull the current value from the same data source. Use the definition the author published, not a similar chart from another provider. Small definitional differences can move a reading across a threshold.
  4. Compare the reading and the price on the same basis. Record the indicator value and the market price at the time of the earlier call and today, so the two periods can be compared directly.
  5. Check the analyst’s record and disclosures. Look for past calls, whether they were scored against outcomes, and whether the article is sponsored or paid for.
  6. Separate the market signal from the picks. Even a valid reading about overall crypto market conditions does not show that a particular token will outperform. Each recommended asset needs its own evidence.

Bittensor, DTX and Hedera: what can be said

The table shows what we could verify for each asset. Where no source was located, the cell says so rather than filling the gap with an estimate.

Asset Evidence located Date of evidence Current status
Bittensor (TAO) Not stated; no source located that links TAO to the headline’s indicator or to a gain forecast Not stated Unverified
DTX Exchange (DTX) Promotional CaptainAltcoin article describing a presale and projected gains, with links to project materials April 27, 2024 Historical promotional claim; not current and not independently verified
Hedera (HBAR) Not stated; no source located that links HBAR to the headline’s indicator or to a gain forecast Not stated Unverified

DTX Exchange: the one dated source

The only asset-specific material we located is a promotional article on CaptainAltcoin dated April 27, 2024. It discusses a DTX presale and projected gains and links to project materials. Three points matter when reading it:

  • The presale figures and gain projections describe what the article claimed in 2024. They are not current prices, offer terms or verified results, and they are more than two years old.
  • The article is promotional, so it is written to present the project favourably. The publisher’s own disclaimer reads: “CaptainAltcoin does not endorse investing in any project mentioned in sponsored articles.” That sentence is the publisher’s statement and should not be read as an endorsement in either direction.
  • Links to project materials are a starting point for your own checks, not verification of the project’s claims.

Bittensor and Hedera: no supporting source

We found no article, analyst note or project document that ties TAO or HBAR to the headline’s indicator or to a gain forecast. That absence does not prove either asset is a poor choice. It means the headline offers no evidence for buying either one. Judging them requires current project documentation, token supply details and market data, checked directly with the project and a reliable market data provider.

Why a ranking is not possible

A fair ranking needs shared measures: a common date, a common data source, comparable forecasts and a common risk basis. The evidence here provides none of these for the three assets. Ordering them by potential would mean inventing criteria, so this article does not do that.

What this means for your money

Crypto assets are volatile, and a headline promising “top gains” does not reduce that risk. Before buying any token mentioned in a headline like this, work through the following:

  • Write down the exact claim and who made it. If you cannot name the source, do not act on the claim.
  • Read the project’s own documentation on what the token does, who controls its supply and how new tokens are issued.
  • Check current liquidity and trading volume on a reliable market data provider, not on a promotional page.
  • Decide how much you could lose entirely without changing your financial plans, and keep any position within that amount.
  • Be especially cautious with presales. Tokens bought before public trading may not be tradable on the timeline the offer implies, and the terms can differ from those of tokens already listed.
