Singapore’s Formula 1 week has become an anchor for a much larger business calendar. The race delivers a fixed date, global attention and a surge of international visitors; Singapore’s conference infrastructure and tourism agency then make it practical for crypto, finance, family-office and chief-executive events to run alongside it.
The result is a concentrated period in which executives can attend several high-value meetings on one trip. It is not one mega-conference, but a deliberately layered MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) ecosystem.

Singapore’s MICE economy is growing fast
Singapore Tourism Board (STB) reported S$2.3 billion in MICE tourism receipts in 2025, up 35% from S$1.7 billion in 2024. Total tourism receipts reached S$32.8 billion in 2025. STB also recorded 156 ICCA meetings in 2025, 8% more than in 2024.

Conferences bring delegates who spend on accommodation, restaurants, transport and business services, while the city’s airport links, venues and hotels reduce the friction of hosting several events at once.

Why F1 week attracts CEOs, investors and crypto founders
The Singapore Grand Prix supplies three assets conference organisers normally have to create themselves: a predictable annual date, worldwide media visibility and a large flow of travelling fans and corporate guests. STB chief executive Melissa Ow said the 2025 race attracted more than 300,000 attendees across three days.
Organisers can schedule investor meetings, family-office briefings and executive summits when senior people are already travelling to Singapore. The race then provides a premium social setting—hospitality, entertainment and sponsor access—after daytime meetings.

Visa’s analysis of VisaNet data for 29 September to 5 October 2025, the week of the Grand Prix, found approximately 80% more business cardholders in Singapore than in an average week and approximately 170% higher spending. That is card-network spending, not a measure of all visitor expenditure, but it illustrates the commercial spillover.
How large the 2026 event cluster is
CNA counted more than 40 MICE events around the 2026 race, including crypto, institutional-investment and family-office gatherings. Some selected hotel rooms were reported at more than seven times their usual rates; that is a peak-period observation for particular rooms and dates, not a citywide average.
| Segment | Examples | What attendees are seeking | Scale or continuity stated by sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crypto and Web3 | TOKEN2049 and related gatherings | Founder meetings, exchange and investor access, exhibitor leads, policy discussions and side events | The organiser projected 25,000 attendees, 500 exhibitors and 300 speakers from more than 7,000 companies in 160 countries for its 2026 Singapore event. |
| Finance and policy | Milken Institute Asia Summit | Senior government, institutional-investor and finance conversations, philanthropy and closed-door policy access | An STB memorandum signed in 2025 anchors the summit in Singapore during F1 week from 2026 through 2028. |
| CEO and family office | Forbes Global CEO Conference; Global-Asia Family Office Summit | Invite-only networking, capital allocation, partnerships and deal-making | CNA identifies both in the same race-period calendar; the sources do not provide a comparable attendance total. |
| Sport and entertainment | Singapore Grand Prix | Mass attendance, sponsorship visibility, hospitality and global reach | More than 300,000 attendees over three days in 2025, according to STB. |
The pipeline is being institutionalised
Singapore is not relying on one successful race weekend. STB’s 2025 agreement with the Milken Institute establishes a 2026–2028 run of Asia Summits during F1 race week, giving delegates and sponsors a reason to plan several years ahead.
A separate STB partnership with Informa, announced in 2026, is designed around business development, experience development and strategic interests. It includes three new events scheduled to launch in 2026—FundForum Asia, Pharmapack Asia and BioProcess International Asia—and expansion of existing events such as MRO Asia Pacific and Asia Photonics Expo.

Informa’s chief commercial officer, Nick Cole, described Singapore as a global hub for business and trade and said live events can drive growth for both their markets and the local economy. The practical effect is a repeatable pipeline: destination support helps organisers launch or enlarge events, and the resulting attendance strengthens demand for future dates.
What makes the flywheel work
- Connectivity: Singapore’s international air links let delegates combine several meetings in one trip.
- Concentrated venues: Convention facilities, hotels and hospitality sites can serve daytime conferences and evening race-related functions.
- Credibility: A stable business environment and a recognised regulatory and financial centre help reassure institutional participants.
- Destination coordination: STB can co-develop events, market the destination and align dates rather than treating each conference as an isolated booking.
- Attention and timing: F1’s global broadcast and fixed calendar create a scarce week in which sponsors and speakers expect unusually high visibility.
These factors reinforce one another. More conferences increase business travel and room demand; the race gives those conferences an entertainment and networking backdrop; and the combined activity makes Singapore a more compelling choice for the next organiser.

How to interpret the headline numbers
The attendance figures describe different things and should not be added together. STB’s 300,000-plus number covers the three-day Grand Prix, TOKEN2049’s 25,000 is an organiser projection for one conference, and CNA’s “more than 40” is a count of events in the surrounding calendar. Likewise, Visa’s result covers VisaNet business-card activity rather than total visitor spending.
For companies deciding whether to attend, the useful question is not simply which event is largest. Crypto participants may value exhibitor density and side-event volume; institutional investors may prioritise seniority and closed-door access; family offices may care more about invitation criteria and deal focus; and sponsors may focus on hospitality inventory and international reach.
For Singapore, the policy objective is broader than filling rooms for one race. The STB–Milken commitment and the Informa pipeline indicate an effort to turn a high-profile sporting weekend into recurring business demand across finance, technology, healthcare, manufacturing and other sectors.
