Credo’s portfolio emphasizes active electrical cables, optical transceivers, signal-conditioning chips, and memory connectivity. Astera Labs presents a broader rack-scale platform built around several interconnect standards, software, and fabric switching. Their products overlap in areas such as Ethernet and signal conditioning, while their disclosed product mixes and platform approaches differ.
What each company makes
Credo Technology: cables, optics, and signal-conditioning chips
Credo’s Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended May 2, 2026 describes products for high-speed electrical and optical connectivity in AI and other data infrastructure. Its portfolio includes ZeroFlap active electrical cables (AECs), ZeroFlap optical transceivers, OmniConnect memory solutions, retimers, optical and copper Ethernet and PCIe digital signal processors (DSPs), and SerDes chiplets and intellectual property.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
These product families address different parts of a system’s connection path. AECs and optical transceivers provide links between components or systems; retimers and DSPs condition signals; SerDes technology handles serializing and deserializing data; and OmniConnect is Credo’s memory-connectivity offering. Credo also describes PILOT diagnostic and analytics software associated with link monitoring and system operation. The company identifies power efficiency, reliability, and high-speed connectivity as customer needs. Those are company positioning claims, not independent product-test findings. The portfolio list matters because “connectivity chipmaker” can refer to more than a single kind of component. An active electrical cable is a link product; a retimer or DSP is a chip used to condition signals; SerDes technology is another part of moving data over a serial connection; and memory connectivity addresses a different part of the infrastructure. Credo’s disclosed mix therefore reaches across cables, optics, chips, memory-related connectivity, and associated diagnostics. The cited company materials do not establish how much revenue each family contributes, how they are deployed together, or which products a particular customer selects.

Credo’s descriptions also distinguish electrical and optical links rather than treating them as one interchangeable product category. Its filing lists both AECs and optical transceivers, as well as DSP products for optical and copper Ethernet and PCIe. This supports saying the company participates in multiple forms of high-speed connectivity, but it does not by itself demonstrate a particular range, power draw, reliability level, or performance advantage for any product. Those comparative technical conclusions would require product-specific specifications or independent testing beyond the materials summarized here.
Astera Labs: standards-based connectivity, software, and fabric switching
Astera Labs describes its Intelligent Connectivity Platform as spanning CXL, Ethernet, NVLink Fusion, PCIe, and UALink, integrated with its COSMOS software suite. It says the portfolio is standards-based and supplemented by custom connectivity solutions. That description puts software and connectivity across multiple standards at the center of its platform story.
In its August 4, 2026 Q2 FY2026 release, Astera highlighted Aries signal conditioning, Taurus Smart Retimers and Smart Redrivers for 224G Ethernet and UALink, and its Scorpio X-Series fabric switch. Astera said the 320-lane Scorpio X-Series was expected to drive a Q3 revenue inflection through a production ramp. That was management’s forward-looking expectation in the August release, not confirmation that the ramp or revenue effect subsequently occurred. Astera Labs Q2 FY2026 results Astera Labs platform overview
The standards in Astera’s platform description give readers a way to understand its stated scope: it is not presented as a product for only one protocol or one component type. The company groups CXL, Ethernet, NVLink Fusion, PCIe, and UALink under an integrated platform, with COSMOS software as part of that offering. Its Q2 release’s named products show several layers of that portfolio: Aries is identified with signal conditioning, Taurus with retimers and redrivers, and Scorpio X-Series with fabric switching. The available information supports describing the range, but not assuming every standard or product is at the same stage of commercial deployment.
Astera’s forward-looking statement about Scorpio needs particular care. The release identified a 320-lane X-Series switch and management expected it to contribute to a Q3 revenue inflection through a production ramp. “Expected” is not the same as a reported result: it does not establish the timing, volume, customer adoption, or revenue contribution ultimately achieved. A reader following the company should look for later company disclosures before treating the expectation as completed performance.
How their product portfolios overlap—and differ
The overlap is real but partial. Both companies address connectivity in AI and data-center infrastructure, and both have products associated with signal conditioning and high-speed links. Credo’s FY2026 filing explicitly names Astera Labs in its discussion of competitors; Astera’s platform description also covers standards and applications relevant to the same infrastructure market. That supports describing them as competitors in some areas, not as exact substitutes across their entire portfolios. Credo FY2026 Form 10-K

The descriptions suggest different centers of gravity: Credo explicitly lists cables, optics, and memory connectivity alongside chips, while Astera emphasizes an integrated platform across standards, software, and switching. This is a comparison of disclosed portfolios, not a judgment that one approach is technically superior. The cited company materials do not establish a head-to-head comparison of PILOT and COSMOS, nor does it independently validate product performance or show how often customers choose one company over the other.
Where the companies compete—and where the descriptions diverge
Asked simply, “Are Credo and Astera Labs competitors?” the most accurate answer is yes, in at least some parts of the connectivity market, but the evidence does not make them interchangeable across all products. Credo explicitly includes Astera in its competitor discussion. At the same time, Credo’s own catalog names AECs, optical transceivers, memory solutions, and several chip categories, while Astera’s description frames an integrated platform spanning named standards, software, signal-conditioning products, and a fabric switch. The common market context is not proof that each company offers a direct substitute for every product the other sells.
That distinction is useful for both technical and financial readers. A product-level comparison asks whether two components address the same connection type, standard, and system need. A company-level comparison asks how broad the overall portfolio is, what products and software are presented together, and how reported business results compare. The cited company materials provide corporate portfolio descriptions, not a compatibility matrix or independent architecture assessment. They therefore support a comparison of emphasis and scope, but not a claim that a buyer can substitute one named product for another without design and qualification work.
Connectivity layer and use case: Credo’s disclosure foregrounds cables, optics, DSPs, retimers, SerDes, and memory connectivity. Astera describes a platform across PCIe, CXL, Ethernet, UALink, and NVLink Fusion, plus fabric switching. These categories touch related high-speed infrastructure needs, but they describe different kinds of offerings. Readers should avoid collapsing a cable, a signal-conditioning component, a protocol platform, and a switch into one undifferentiated “networking chip” category.
Copper, optical, and scale: Credo explicitly lists electrical cable products and optical transceivers, as well as copper and optical DSPs. Astera’s source materials emphasize a multi-standard platform and identify products including Taurus for 224G Ethernet and UALink and Scorpio X-Series switching. Both address AI and data-center infrastructure, but their product-family descriptions and roadmaps are not identical. The cited company materials do not supply like-for-like specifications, deployment distances, power figures, or independent benchmarks, so they cannot support a technical winner.

Credo describes PILOT as diagnostics and analytics associated with link monitoring and system operation. Those are different descriptions, not enough evidence for a direct feature comparison. No feature-by-feature software assessment, customer usage data, or independent comparison was established in the cited company materials. It is reasonable to identify software as part of both companies’ stories, but not to infer equal functionality or relative quality.

Shipping, announced, and ramping products: Product names in a filing or earnings release should not all be read as proof of identical commercial maturity. The available Astera release explicitly describes Scorpio X-Series as expected to support a Q3 revenue inflection through a production ramp. Keep that statement in its original forward-looking context. Likewise, product portfolio descriptions alone do not provide shipment volumes or product-level revenue for Credo’s listed families. A careful comparison distinguishes a company’s portfolio and roadmap claims from demonstrated results.
Recent reported revenue: use matching periods
The latest financial figures surfaced for the two companies cover different lengths of time. Credo’s figure is for a full fiscal year; Astera’s is for one quarter. They should not be ranked as if they were same-period results.
| Company and period | Reported revenue | Additional reported context |
|---|---|---|
| Credo Technology, FY2026, year ended May 2, 2026 | $1,335.116 million | FY2025 revenue was $436.775 million. FY2025 had 53 weeks; FY2026 had 52 weeks. |
| Credo Technology, Q4 FY2026 | $437.0 million | Reported year-over-year revenue growth was 157.0%; GAAP gross margin was 68.2%. |
| Astera Labs, Q2 FY2026, quarter ended June 30, 2026 | $392.4 million | Reported year-over-year revenue growth was 104%; GAAP gross margin was 73.3%. The company also reported 27% sequential revenue growth. |
Credo’s annual and quarterly figures come from its FY2026 filing and results release. Astera’s quarterly figures come from its Q2 FY2026 release. Each is company-reported information. The figures describe different reporting periods, so they do not establish which business was larger over a common interval. The reported gross margins also have different periods; a direct margin ranking would require matching periods and accounting bases. Credo FY2026 Form 10-K Credo FY2026 results Astera Labs Q2 FY2026 results
The periods and labels are essential to reading the numbers. Credo’s $1,335.116 million is revenue for its full FY2026, which ended May 2, 2026. Astera’s $392.4 million is revenue for Q2 FY2026, a quarter ended June 30, 2026. A full year and a quarter cannot be compared as if they covered the same time span. Nor should a reader multiply Astera’s quarter by four and treat the result as reported annual revenue: that would be an extrapolation, not a disclosed full-year result, and Astera’s cited release does not establish future quarterly performance.
Credo’s comparison with its own prior year needs a fiscal-calendar caveat. FY2025 had 53 weeks, while FY2026 had 52 weeks. Credo reported FY2025 revenue of $436.775 million and FY2026 revenue of $1,335.116 million, but the periods were not identical in length. That does not erase the company’s reported result; it is context for interpreting the year-over-year comparison. No adjustment to make the periods equivalent is supplied here, so one should not invent one.
The quarterly growth figures also need context rather than headline-only reading. Credo reported Q4 FY2026 revenue of $437.0 million, up 157.0% year over year, and GAAP gross margin of 68.2%. Astera reported Q2 FY2026 revenue of $392.4 million, up 104% year over year and 27% sequentially, with GAAP gross margin of 73.3%. Each figure is company-reported and tied to its own quarter. The data do not establish a same-quarter comparison between the two businesses, and gross margins should not be ranked without matching periods and accounting basis.

Credo CEO Bill Brennan said of FY2026 that revenue “more than tripled to $1.3 billion,” and that non-GAAP net income increased more than five times to $662 million. That is the CEO’s characterization of the company’s year, not an independent forecast or assessment. Astera CEO Jitendra Mohan described the Q2 results as record revenue and cited broad-based strength, including record quarterly revenue for Aries; that too is management commentary. Credo FY2026 results Astera Labs Q2 FY2026 results

Those executive statements help explain how each company characterized its results, but they remain company statements. Credo’s quoted non-GAAP net-income growth is not the same measure as revenue, and should not be conflated with the GAAP gross-margin figures in the table. Astera’s reference to record Aries revenue is specific to the product line and quarter; it does not reveal total revenue attributable to every product family or prove future demand. Company growth releases are evidence of reported historical results, not a stock recommendation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the comparison can—and cannot—tell an investor
For a personal-finance reader considering the companies as potential investments, portfolio descriptions and reported growth are starting points, not a basis for choosing a stock. Connectivity demand, product launches, and production ramps may matter to future results, but the disclosed figures do not establish future market share, customer wins, product success, valuation, or shareholder returns. Astera’s Scorpio production ramp was still an expected Q3 development in its August 2026 release.
A more complete investment comparison would require aligned financial periods and additional information such as current valuation, cash generation, customer concentration, competitive wins and losses, and subsequent results. Those comparisons are not established by the cited company materials here. The revenue growth rates should therefore be read as historical company-reported outcomes—not forecasts or evidence that either stock will outperform.
It is also important to separate product-market overlap from investment outcomes. A company can compete with another in some product categories without having identical exposure across its entire business. The supplied materials do not quantify the share of either company’s revenue tied to any one product family, establish customer overlap, or show win-and-loss rates. They also do not provide a third-party market-size estimate, current valuation, or a basis for calculating which stock is cheaper. The product comparison can orient a reader to what the companies say they sell; it cannot settle whether either security is attractively priced.
Growth percentages deserve similar restraint. A high year-over-year figure describes a comparison with the corresponding period one year earlier; it is not a projection of the next year’s growth rate. Quarter-to-quarter change can offer another snapshot, as Astera’s 27% sequential revenue growth does, but it also does not establish persistence. To assess durability, a reader would need subsequent company results and additional context not included here. No third-party market statistic or independent product test was established in the cited company materials, so neither should be implied.

A practical way to read future updates
- Match the period first. Compare annual results with annual results or quarters with quarters, checking fiscal year-end dates and any difference in fiscal-year length. For this comparison, Credo FY2026 ended May 2, 2026, whereas Astera Q2 FY2026 ended June 30, 2026; the labels alone do not make these comparable periods.
- Separate shipped products from expectations. Treat a product announcement or expected ramp differently from evidence of completed production and reported sales. Astera’s August 2026 Scorpio statement was an expected Q3 revenue inflection, not a verified later outcome in the cited release.
- Track product mix and software claims. Look for disclosures tying a product family or platform to actual revenue or customer activity; broad platform language alone does not show commercial contribution. The sources identify PILOT and COSMOS, but do not provide a head-to-head software comparison.
- Keep company claims in context. Statements about performance, customer needs, and competitive position should be distinguished from independent testing or independently reported market evidence. Attribute management commentary and product claims rather than presenting them as external validation.
- Look for like-for-like financial disclosure. Before comparing growth, margins, or scale, check whether both figures cover the same duration, use the same accounting measure, and refer to comparable fiscal periods. The annual and quarterly revenue figures here do not meet that test.
- Ask what is still unknown. Product lists and financial releases do not answer valuation, future market share, customer concentration, competitive win rates, or shareholder return questions. Those require additional current evidence.
Frequently Asked Questions

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Which company reported more revenue?
The cited figures do not provide a fair same-period ranking. Credo reported $1,335.116 million for FY2026, the year ended May 2, 2026. Astera reported $392.4 million for Q2 FY2026, the quarter ended June 30, 2026. A full fiscal year and a single quarter cover different lengths of time.
Can the reported growth or margins show which stock is better?
No. The growth and margin figures are company-reported historical results from different periods, and do not establish future performance, valuation, market share, or shareholder returns. A same-period comparison and additional current financial and competitive evidence would be needed.
Was Astera’s Scorpio production ramp already confirmed?
Not by the cited August 4, 2026 release. Astera said its 320-lane Scorpio X-Series was expected to drive a Q3 revenue inflection through a production ramp. That was a forward-looking expectation, not confirmation that the ramp or its revenue effect later occurred.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Credo and Astera Labs both target high-speed connectivity in AI and data-center systems, and they compete in some overlapping areas. Credo’s disclosed emphasis spans active electrical cables, optics, memory connectivity, and signal-conditioning components; Astera presents a multi-standard platform with software and fabric switching. Their reported revenue figures cover different periods, so they do not establish a like-for-like size comparison or indicate which stock will perform better.
