To know whether a purchase qualifies, match the offer to your exact card and account, the eligible product and cart value, and the payment method you select at checkout. Caps, minimum spends, EMI rules and refund treatment all vary. The offer terms and product-page eligibility shown for your purchase are decisive; historic campaign figures are examples, not current promises.
What determines whether you qualify?
Eligibility is a combination of conditions, and satisfying only one—such as holding a card from the named bank—may not be enough. Before paying, check the campaign’s terms and the product page against the following points:

- Issuer and card type: Confirm the exact bank and eligible card product or network. Terms may exclude specified corporate or commercial cards; an offer for one bank’s cards should not be assumed to cover every card it issues.
- Account and transaction conditions: Check for any stated account-status requirements, campaign dates, transaction channel and payment method. A campaign available on a retailer’s website may not necessarily apply through another channel.
- Product eligibility: The promotion may apply only to select products or categories. Check the offer badge or eligibility information on the product page, not just the bank’s general campaign headline. Axis Bank’s Amazon terms expressly tell cardholders to check eligibility on the product page (Axis Bank offer terms).
- Eligible cart value: Find out whether a minimum applies and what value counts toward it. Some terms refer to eligible net cart value after discounts or exchange deductions rather than the original list price.
- Payment option: Verify whether the offer permits full-swipe credit, standard EMI, no-cost EMI or another named option. “EMI eligible” does not establish that every EMI variant qualifies.
- Usage limit: Check whether the offer can be used more than once and whether a cap applies per transaction, per card or across the campaign.
For example, Axis campaign terms have included select-product eligibility and exclusions for specified corporate or commercial cards. Those are examples from individual campaigns—not a general rule covering every Axis offer (Amazon campaign terms; Flipkart campaign terms).

“Up to” describes a ceiling, not the discount every eligible customer will receive. A campaign may calculate a percentage of qualifying spend and then limit the result with a per-transaction or per-card cap. The minimum spend and the cap work together: the minimum determines whether the transaction can qualify, while the cap limits how much discount it can earn.

As a simple illustration—not a live offer—suppose terms say 10% off eligible spend, subject to a ₹1,000 maximum and a qualifying minimum. A qualifying eligible purchase of ₹5,000 would produce a calculated discount of ₹500 before any other campaign conditions. A purchase large enough to calculate a discount above ₹1,000 would still be limited to ₹1,000. The actual percentage, threshold, calculation base and cap must come from the current campaign terms.
Read the cap language carefully. A cap can apply per transaction, per card or across a campaign; repeat transactions may therefore be treated differently from a single purchase. If terms separate a base discount from a bonus discount, each portion may have its own cap. Also check whether another discount, coupon or exchange deduction reduces the value used to determine eligibility. Do not assume that the headline cart total is the qualifying amount.
How do minimum spend and net cart value work?
A minimum is a qualifying threshold, not necessarily the price printed beside one item. Campaign terms can define it by category, transaction or eligible net cart value. If your basket contains several products, some eligible and some not, check whether the offer is calculated only on eligible items and whether the remaining eligible value still clears the threshold.
Historical campaigns show why one threshold cannot be carried over to another sale. ICICI Bank’s sitewide offer terms for 26 October–2 November 2021 set different minimums for non-grocery and grocery purchases. In an Axis Bank Flipkart campaign dated 23–31 July 2024, the terms used different minimum net cart values for the base and bonus discounts. These figures illustrate campaign design; they do not establish thresholds for a current purchase (ICICI Bank 2021 terms; Axis Bank campaign terms).

Before checkout, determine which amount the offer actually measures: the eligible products’ subtotal, the net cart after a coupon, or another amount defined in the terms. If an exchange discount applies, check whether the terms subtract it before testing the minimum. When the campaign does not clearly explain a mixed cart or discount combination, the product page and final payment summary are safer indicators than an assumption based on the cart’s original total.
Does paying by EMI qualify?
Sometimes—but do not treat “EMI” as one payment method with one set of rules. A campaign may permit regular EMI or no-cost EMI, while a different EMI variant is excluded. Check the campaign’s eligible payment modes before selecting an instalment option, and confirm that the instant discount remains visible in the final checkout summary.
Axis Bank’s Amazon Great Indian Festival terms provide a campaign-specific example of an exclusion: down-payment EMI was excluded. Other bank campaign terms have allowed EMI or no-cost EMI, so the right answer depends on the named promotion and the precise EMI option—not simply on whether the card supports instalments (Axis Bank Amazon terms; ICICI Bank Amazon offer).
There is a separate issue that can be confused with sale eligibility: whether a transaction can be converted into EMI at all. ICICI Bank’s general credit-card FAQ says that “cash, jewellery and fuel purchase transactions are excluded from EMI conversion” (ICICI Bank credit-card FAQs). That statement concerns EMI conversion; it is not a universal list of products excluded from every sale discount. A campaign’s own product exclusions must be checked separately.

Which products or transactions might be excluded?
There is no single exclusion list that applies to every bank or sale. A campaign can restrict particular products, categories or transaction types, and the eligible-item information may appear on the product page rather than in a general headline. Read the named offer’s eligible-product list and check the specific item before adding it to your cart.
For instance, an ICICI Bank Amazon campaign page lists category examples such as subscription, food, pantry or fresh items, travel bookings and installation orders among exclusions for that promotion (ICICI Bank Amazon campaign). Those exclusions do not automatically apply to other campaigns. Nor should they be combined with the cash, jewellery and fuel exclusions in ICICI’s EMI-conversion FAQ: that FAQ discusses whether certain transactions can be converted into EMI, not whether those products are universally ineligible for sale discounts.
What happens if you cancel or return an item?
A cancellation or return can change the amount that qualified for the offer. The result depends on the campaign’s rules and whether the return is partial or covers the whole order. Read both the cancellation and return clauses before buying, especially when your cart is close to the qualifying minimum.
- Partial return: If the value of the items you keep falls below the campaign’s minimum, the offer may no longer qualify. The remaining order value—not just the original checkout total—can matter.
- Refund adjustment: Some terms say the instant discount already received will be deducted when the refund is calculated. Do not assume that the refund will equal the amount paid for the returned item before accounting for campaign adjustments.
- Cancellation: A cancellation can affect eligibility in a similar way if it reduces the qualifying order value or removes an eligible product. Check whether the terms address cancellation of one item, the full order, or both.
Official campaign terms illustrate these possible outcomes, but not a uniform refund formula: ICICI Bank and Axis Bank terms include examples of offer qualification changing when an order is reduced and of refunds being adjusted for an instant discount (ICICI Bank sitewide terms; Axis Bank Amazon terms; Axis Bank EMI campaign terms). The exact treatment for your order is the one stated by its campaign.

The examples below show how much campaign terms can vary. Each row refers to a dated or otherwise identifiable historical offer; none establishes a live offer on 13 October 2026. Search indexing or the continued availability of a terms page is not proof that a promotion is still open.

These figures are useful for understanding offer mechanics, not for predicting a new sale. The cited pages describe different retailers, dates and conditions; comparing their amounts as if they were competing offers available at the same time would be misleading.

- Open the current campaign terms. Confirm the retailer, campaign dates, issuer, eligible card products, and any channel or account conditions. Do not rely on a search result snippet or a past sale page.
- Check the product page. Look for the offer’s eligibility indicator on the exact item. If the campaign says select products only, do not infer that another product in the same category qualifies.
- Calculate the qualifying amount. Review the eligible items, minimum spend, net cart definition and the effect of coupons or exchange deductions. If the offer has separate base and bonus thresholds, test each one separately.
- Choose the specified payment mode. Match full-swipe credit, standard EMI, no-cost EMI or another named option to the terms. Avoid assuming a down-payment EMI or an EMI conversion after purchase qualifies.
- Check the discount at checkout. Before confirming payment, verify that the instant discount appears in the order or payment summary and that the selected card and payment option are correct.
- Save the terms and order details. Keep the campaign terms and confirmation showing the card, payment mode, eligible items and discount. These details help you identify which condition may explain a missing discount or adjusted refund.
Why might an eligible-looking purchase not receive the discount?
A product badge or a qualifying card alone may not satisfy every condition. If the discount is missing, compare the completed checkout against the campaign terms rather than assuming that the offer will be credited later.

- The specific card variant or account did not meet the campaign’s issuer or card eligibility rules.
- The item was not eligible, even if similar products displayed an offer.
- The qualifying net cart value fell below the minimum after a coupon, exchange deduction or other adjustment.
- The payment method was excluded, or the discount was not selected or applied in the final checkout flow.
- A per-card or campaign-use limit had already been reached, or the transaction fell outside the stated dates or channel.
ICICI Bank’s card FAQ separately includes the reader question, “I purchased an eligible item but still did not get the discount. Why?” Its practical implication is to check the applicable offer conditions rather than treating an item’s apparent eligibility as sufficient (ICICI Bank credit-card FAQs). If the checkout summary showed the discount but the final transaction does not reflect it, keep the order confirmation and campaign terms and contact the retailer or issuer through its official support channel.

Which terms should you compare when two live offers are available?
Compare offers only when they are available to you at the same retailer and time. A clear side-by-side check should include the conditions that affect your particular purchase:
- Issuer, exact card product or network, and any excluded business or corporate cards.
- Eligible items and whether the product page confirms the offer.
- Minimum transaction or eligible net cart value, including any category-specific threshold.
- Discount rate, per-transaction cap, per-card or campaign-wide cap, bonus cap and repeat-use limit.
- Payment mode: full-swipe credit, standard EMI, no-cost EMI, down-payment EMI or another named option.
- How coupons, exchange discounts, mixed eligible and ineligible carts, and split payments are treated.
- Return, partial-cancellation and refund-adjustment rules.
- Campaign dates, payment channel and whether the offer can be combined with other promotions.
These details differ materially across bank terms, even when both promotions advertise an instant discount. If a term is missing or unclear, do not fill the gap with a rule from another campaign; use the current offer page or ask the retailer or issuer to confirm how it applies to your cart.
What is established—and what is not—about current offers?
The cited official materials include campaigns from 2021 and 2024 and an Axis Bank campaign document identified by a January 2025 filename. They show recurring mechanics—card and product eligibility, thresholds, caps, EMI distinctions and return adjustments—but do not establish which offer is active on 13 October 2026. The title alone also does not identify a retailer, bank, card product or campaign. A current cap, minimum or complete exclusion list cannot responsibly be supplied without those details.
For a specific purchase, use the live campaign terms and eligible-product information displayed for that retailer, then verify that the discount appears before you pay. Historic examples explain how to read an offer; they cannot substitute for the terms governing today’s transaction.
