Samsung’s $0 cracked-screen and back-glass repair offer is real, but it is for eligible U.S. customers enrolled in Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss—not every Galaxy owner. Standard Samsung Care+ lists a $29 fee per eligible screen or back-glass repair, and the $0 plan still has a premium. Samsung’s current plan details and its 2026 Galaxy S26 announcement describe the benefit.
What changed—and which plan gets the $0 repair?
Samsung reduced the same-day cracked-screen and back-glass repair fee from $29 to $0 for Care+ with Theft and Loss customers in January 2025, according to Droid Life’s January 15, 2025 report. Samsung continued to advertise the benefit in its 2026 materials. The change is a $0 repair service fee for qualifying claims, not free coverage: you still pay for the plan.

What does “$0 repair” actually cover?
The $0 benefit applies specifically to eligible cracked front-screen and back-glass repairs under Care+ with Theft and Loss. It is not a promise that every damaged phone will be repaired for no charge. Severe frame damage, water exposure, camera or charging-port problems, internal damage, or other issues may follow a different claim path and may carry a fee or fall outside the benefit. A phone that cannot be repaired may be handled as a replacement claim, with different terms and costs.

Samsung describes the plan as offering unlimited accidental-damage repairs, but “unlimited” does not remove claim approval requirements, exclusions, device eligibility rules, or other plan terms. Mechanical-breakdown claims have no service fee according to Samsung’s Care+ FAQ; service fees for other accidental-damage claims depend on the claim.
Is same-day repair guaranteed?
No. Same-day service depends on an eligible device and approved claim, as well as a participating location, available parts, technician capacity, and appointment availability. Samsung cites more than 700 authorized locations, but same-day repair is limited to eligible devices and selected areas. Check whether a nearby location can handle your particular model and damage before making plans; the Samsung Care+ page sets out the applicable qualifications.

What does Care+ with Theft and Loss cost?
Price depends on the device. For the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung’s 2026 announcement lists monthly pricing of $10 or $15, depending on model; those figures are not universal Galaxy prices. Check the specific device’s price and eligibility when enrolling.
Samsung says eligible customers can generally choose an upfront payment for a two-year term or monthly recurring payments for three years, subject to the applicable terms and cancellation rules. See the Care+ FAQ for payment options.

Other claims can still cost money
For theft or loss, Samsung lists a deductible of $99–$199 depending on the device. Replacement claims require approval; a replacement may be new or refurbished, and Samsung may provide a comparable model if the same model is unavailable. The plan allows up to three lost, stolen, or unrecoverable-device claims in any consecutive 12-month period. These terms are separate from the $0 screen-repair fee; see Samsung’s coverage details.
Care+ with Theft and Loss is therefore not a $0 replacement plan. A lost or stolen phone goes through a replacement claim, with its own deductible, limits, and fulfillment process.

Check eligibility before enrolling
Samsung’s FAQ says eligible mobile devices can be enrolled at purchase through Samsung.com or within 60 days of purchase through Samsung Care+. The offer is not a way to insure a phone after it has already been damaged: confirm eligibility and enroll while the device is in good condition. Older models may or may not qualify, and their plan prices can differ; check the exact model rather than assuming all Galaxy phones are included.
The offer and fees described here concern Samsung’s U.S. plans. Care+ coverage and pricing can differ in other countries. Samsung’s regular one-year warranty is not a substitute for accidental-damage coverage: a drop that cracks a screen is generally an accidental-damage issue, not a manufacturing defect covered by the standard warranty.

How to decide whether the plan is worth it
Compare the premium over the time you expect to keep the phone with the costs you are trying to avoid. The relevant alternatives are the plan price, any claim fees, the model’s direct repair price, and the cost of replacing a lost or stolen phone. Samsung’s repair-price page can help establish the direct-repair figure for your model. There is no universal break-even point: prices, risk, and repair access vary.
Care+ with Theft and Loss may fit if
- Your phone would be expensive to repair or replace, and a large unexpected bill would be difficult to absorb.
- You often damage phones or want theft and loss protection as well as accidental-damage coverage.
- You can use a participating authorized repair location and value Samsung-certified technicians and genuine parts, which Samsung says its authorized repairs use.
Standard Care+ may fit if
- You want accidental-damage and mechanical-breakdown protection but do not need theft or loss coverage.
- You are comfortable paying the $29 screen or back-glass claim fee when needed and the lower plan cost makes sense for your situation.
Paying for repairs yourself may fit if
- You rarely damage phones, expect to replace this one soon, or own a model whose repair cost is manageable.
- You can set aside enough to cover a repair or replacement without buying a protection plan.
- You are comparing a plan’s total expected cost with a reputable independent repair provider’s quote.
Samsung also offers repair and self-repair resources through Find Mobile Care. Self-repair can reduce reliance on a service appointment, but it requires suitable tools and experience; opening a sealed phone can risk additional damage or a poor repair outcome.
