Re:

Could Palantir Stock Reach $300 by the End of 2028? What the Numbers Actually Require

Palantir’s rapid 2026 growth makes a $300 target possible as a scenario, not a forecast. Here is the implied equity value and the assumptions investors must test.

Palantir Technologies could reach $300 by the end of 2028, but the company’s 2026 results and guidance do not establish that outcome. The target is a scenario that depends on revenue and profit growth continuing at a high rate, investors maintaining a substantial valuation premium, and dilution not eroding per-share gains. At Palantir’s Q2 2026 diluted weighted-average share count, a $300 share price would represent approximately $770.6 billion of equity value.

What Palantir has actually reported

Palantir’s August 3, 2026 earnings release reported second-quarter revenue of $1.935 billion, an increase of 93% from the same quarter a year earlier. U.S. commercial revenue rose 149% to $764 million, while U.S. government revenue increased 90% to $809 million.

The quarter was also highly profitable on the company’s reported measures. GAAP operating income was $912 million, a 47% margin, and GAAP net income was $1.062 billion, a 55% margin. Adjusted free cash flow was $1.220 billion, equal to a 63% margin. These are company-reported quarterly figures, not independent estimates.

2026 guidance is strong but not a 2028 forecast

Palantir raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $8.150 billion to $8.158 billion. It expects U.S. commercial revenue to exceed $3.424 billion, representing at least 134% year-over-year growth, and guided to adjusted income from operations of $4.889 billion to $4.897 billion.

That guidance describes management’s outlook for 2026. It does not provide revenue, earnings or cash-flow targets for 2028, and extending the growth rate mechanically for two more years would be an assumption rather than company guidance.

What a $300 share price implies

Palantir reported 2.568694 billion diluted weighted-average shares for the second quarter of 2026. Multiplying that historical denominator by $300 produces approximately $770.6 billion in implied equity value:

This is illustrative arithmetic, not a forecast of Palantir’s year-end 2028 market capitalization. The diluted weighted-average count is a quarterly accounting measure, and the number of shares can change before 2028.

At June 30, 2026, the filing listed 2.300517 billion Class A shares and 101.375 million Class B shares outstanding. Those figures total about 2.402 billion shares, below the quarterly diluted weighted-average figure. The difference illustrates why a target-price analysis must state whether it uses basic shares, period-end shares, diluted shares or a separately modeled future count.

The assumptions a credible $300 case needs

A price target is not supported by growth alone. A defensible scenario should make each of the following inputs visible:

  • Revenue through 2028: the annual growth rate required after 2026 and whether that growth comes from U.S. commercial customers, government contracts, international business or a combination.
  • Profitability: the operating or free-cash-flow margin assumed at the target date, with GAAP and adjusted measures kept separate.
  • Valuation multiple: the price-to-sales, price-to-earnings, enterprise-value-to-revenue or cash-flow multiple applied to the modeled 2028 result.
  • Share-count change: the effect of employee equity awards, new issuance, repurchases and other dilution on earnings or cash flow per share.

Without those inputs, “$300 by 2028” is a headline rather than an investable valuation argument. Two analysts can use the same revenue forecast and reach very different prices by applying different multiples or dilution assumptions.

Why dilution and stock-based compensation matter

Palantir reported $466.8 million of stock-based compensation during the first half of 2026. Stock-based compensation is a real compensation expense even when it does not require an immediate cash payment, because the resulting equity awards can increase the number of shares attributable to investors.

Investors should therefore distinguish GAAP earnings from adjusted operating income and adjusted free cash flow. Adjusted operating income is not the same as earnings per share, and a high adjusted margin does not by itself show what each future share will earn. A model that ignores stock-based compensation or assumes no future issuance can overstate per-share value.

Management’s AI opportunity claim

In the August 3, 2026 earnings release, chief executive Alex Karp said: “Demand for AI sovereignty has now been unleashed. And Palantir is the only company that has demonstrated it can transform tokens into actual economic value.” That is management’s characterization of the market and Palantir’s position, not independently verified proof of future revenue or a $300 share price.

Palantir says it earns revenue from subscriptions to hosted and on-premises software as well as professional services. The commercial opportunity may support continued growth, but the eventual share price will still depend on execution, competitive conditions, contract timing, margins and the valuation investors assign at the end of 2028.

What could prevent the target

  • Commercial growth could decelerate from the exceptional rates reported for the second quarter and 2026 outlook.
  • Government contract awards, renewals or deployments could arrive later than expected.
  • High expectations could compress the valuation multiple even if revenue continues to rise.
  • Stock-based compensation and other share issuance could increase the denominator used to calculate per-share results.
  • GAAP profitability, cash conversion or margins could fall short of adjusted presentations or investor expectations.

How to evaluate the claim before investing

  1. Start with the latest quarterly filing and update revenue, GAAP earnings, cash flow and both basic and diluted share counts.
  2. Separate management guidance from outside estimates and from your own assumptions.
  3. Build at least a bear, base and bull case for revenue growth, margins, dilution and the exit valuation multiple.
  4. Calculate implied equity value and per-share value in each case rather than quoting only a headline price.
  5. Recheck the model after every earnings release, major contract announcement or material change in share count.

Bottom line on $300 by 2028

Palantir’s Q2 2026 performance and raised 2026 guidance show rapid growth and unusually high reported margins. They do not, however, establish a year-end 2028 price. Using the Q2 diluted share count, $300 would imply roughly $770.6 billion of equity value, before accounting for future dilution. Reaching that level would require a specific combination of sustained growth, durable profitability and a valuation multiple that remains high enough to support it. Treat $300 as a scenario to test, not as a company-backed forecast.
