COS closed its Claremont store on Bay View Terrace on 9 August 2024, ending the brand’s reported physical retail presence in Western Australia. The retailer’s Australian online shop remains available for customers who want to shop the brand.
When did COS close its Claremont store?
The store closed on Friday, 9 August 2024, according to a report published by PerthNow on 13 August 2024. COS opened its first Western Australian store on Claremont’s Bay View Terrace in August 2017, about seven years before it shut.
PerthNow described it as COS’s only brick-and-mortar store in Western Australia. The closure therefore ended the brand’s reported physical store presence in the state. The Town of Claremont lists Claremont Quarter at 9 Bay View Terrace, but that directory entry identifies the centre’s address rather than independently confirming COS’s former tenancy.
Why did COS close the store?
COS did not give a specific reason for selecting the Claremont store for closure in the comments reported by PerthNow. A spokeswoman described the company’s general approach as regularly reviewing its store portfolio, including the number and size of stores, rebuilds and relocations.

She also said physical stores remained important to the brand and that COS would continue investing in and opening stores globally where it saw potential. On the effect of closures, she said the company’s priority was supporting colleagues and finding the best solution for them.
Those comments explain COS’s broad approach to its stores, not the cause of this particular closure. The report does not establish that local rents, sales or customer demand drove the decision.

Yes. COS operates an official Australian online shop, with links to women’s and men’s ranges, delivery and returns information, and product-care guidance. The website provides an online shopping option, but it does not guarantee that a particular item is currently in stock.

What the closure means for Claremont shoppers
For local customers, the immediate change is that the reported sole COS storefront in WA is no longer open. Claremont Quarter remains a retail centre at 9 Bay View Terrace, according to the Town of Claremont’s directory, but that address listing should not be read as evidence that COS still trades there.
