The announcement put the company’s valuation at $1.3 billion; TechCrunch described that figure as post-money. This is a historical financing story, not news of a current raise.
What Clipboard Health announced
Clipboard Health said the newly announced $30 million Series C brought its total funding to more than $80 million. Its announcement identified IVP as the lead investor in the $50 million Series B the prior year and Sequoia Capital as the Series C lead. TechCrunch likewise described $80 million raised across the two rounds and characterized the $1.3 billion valuation as post-money.
The company said it had not previously announced funding publicly. Its 2022 announcement also named Caffeinated Capital, Initialized Capital, Y Combinator, and individual investors among its backers. That is the roster Clipboard reported at the time, not a current capitalization table. Clipboard Health’s announcement and TechCrunch’s contemporaneous coverage provide the details.
What the company said the funding would support
TechCrunch reported that CEO Wei Deng said the proceeds would support hiring in engineering, sales, and marketing. Clipboard’s own announcement did not give a detailed spending breakdown; it said the company would keep focusing on serving customers. The hiring plan should therefore be understood as Deng’s reported plan at the time, rather than a current allocation of funds.

How Clipboard says its marketplace works
Clipboard says it connects healthcare professionals—including nurses, nursing assistants, medical assistants, and others—with facilities seeking shift coverage. Founder and co-CEO Wei Deng described the aim as creating “a way to match healthcare professionals — nurses, nursing assistants, medical assistants and others — with the facilities that needed them.” That statement describes the company’s intent, not independent evidence of improved staffing or patient outcomes.
Posting and matching shifts
On its current hospital page, Clipboard describes a workflow in which a facility creates a shift with a role, date, and time; the platform shares it with workers who meet the facility’s qualifications. The company says facilities can set minimum role requirements and invite preferred workers back. Its long-term-care page describes a similar process and emphasizes repeat relationships.
Operational support
Clipboard says its platform also supports scheduling, documentation, and payment. These are company descriptions of its present service. They do not, by themselves, establish how the platform performs against staffing agencies or competing marketplaces.
What the figures do—and do not—show
TechCrunch reported that Clipboard’s gross revenue grew approximately 25-fold over 18 months as of its 2022 coverage. That is a reported historical growth figure, not an audited result or a current growth rate. The $1.3 billion valuation is also historical; the reviewed sources do not establish Clipboard’s current valuation, current funding total, or independently verified marketplace outcomes.
Rank #3
Clipboard’s current pages display additional company-reported metrics, which have different scopes and should not be combined as though they measure the same thing:
| Metric | Clipboard’s displayed figure | Scope and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Healthcare workers | 800,000 | Company-displayed platform scale on the hospital page; not independently verified by the sources reviewed. |
| Hospital shifts covered | 125,000 | Hospital scope, as displayed on the hospital page; company-reported. |
| Shifts covered when posted a day in advance | 95% | Clipboard’s claim applies when a shift is posted a day in advance. |
| Shifts posted in 2025 | 5 million | Displayed on Clipboard’s long-term-care page; a separate page metric with its own scope. |
| Repeat-worker coverage | Over 85% | Clipboard says this share of shifts is covered by someone the facility has already worked with; displayed on its long-term-care page. |
The hospital metrics appear on Clipboard’s hospital page, while the 2025 and repeat-worker figures appear on its long-term-care page. These are company claims, not independent comparative measurements.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the announcement means for facilities and workers
The financing helps explain how Clipboard said it intended to expand the marketplace and support customers in 2022. For a facility or healthcare professional considering the service today, the practical questions are different: whether a specific role and location are supported, how qualifications and orientation are handled, whether familiar workers can be retained, and what fees or pay terms apply. The cited pages describe parts of the workflow but do not establish those terms across all users or locations.
The available sources also do not provide a head-to-head comparison with traditional staffing agencies or other platforms. Clipboard’s claimed coverage and repeat-worker figures cannot establish that it is faster, less expensive, or better for continuity without a comparable independent dataset.
