Yes. On March 7, 2024, the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) unanimously approved a proposed Starbucks and 7-Eleven development at the corner of Neerabup Road and Key Largo Drive in Clarkson, north of Perth. Starbucks Australia now lists a Clarkson store at 80 Key Largo Drive, so the 2024 “first in WA” description is historical—not a current statewide store-count claim.
What the Clarkson development includes
PerthNow reported the project’s value at A$4 million. The proposal pairs a Starbucks with a 7-Eleven service station beside Revo Fitness and across from a Woolworths supermarket.

Starbucks design and operations
- The proposed Starbucks building covers 220 square metres and provides seating for up to 74 customers, according to PerthNow’s 2024 report.
- The design includes a drive-through.
- Both Starbucks and 7-Eleven were approved to operate 24 hours.
What the approval says about delivery hours and amenity
The panel approved the project with 17 conditions, as reported by PerthNow. It removed a proposed condition that would have restricted delivery trucks to 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. Planning Solutions, the applicant’s planning consultant, argued that such a restriction could interfere with fresh-food and milk deliveries and was unnecessary because Neerabup Road separates the site from nearby housing.
Removing that proposed delivery-hours restriction did not remove all operating or amenity controls. PerthNow reported that the approval conditions addressed noise and light impacts. The full decision document and the exact wording of all 17 conditions are not established in the available coverage, so their complete scope cannot be set out here.

What nearby residents said about the proposal
The City of Wanneroo advertised the application in December before the panel’s approval. PerthNow reported 37 responses: 23 opposed and 12 in support. The report does not identify the position of the other two responses. Supporters cited the prospect of a Starbucks in the area; concerns included traffic and the concentration of nearby petrol stations.
As quoted by PerthNow, the JDAP report said: “The proposal has demonstrated an acceptable level of operation that would not impact on the surrounding road network or result in any amenity impacts to surrounding landowners.” That is the panel report’s assessment relayed by PerthNow, not evidence of measured traffic or amenity conditions after the store opened. The coverage does not document a formal comparison of alternative sites or designs.

Where to find the Clarkson Starbucks now
Starbucks Australia’s official store listing gives the Clarkson address as 80 Key Largo Drive, Clarkson, WA 6030: Starbucks Australia store locator. The listing confirms the address but does not establish how many Starbucks stores currently operate across Western Australia.
PerthNow also quoted City of Wanneroo Councillor Sonet Coetzee saying, “I’m happy with the report and I think it’s very thorough”.
