Since May 13, 2026, Cineplex Scene+ members earn 3 points per eligible dollar on regular tickets and most theatre purchases, down from 5. Premium experience tickets earn 6 points per eligible dollar, up from 5. Online booking fees now earn at the rate of the ticket purchased. The rate applies to eligible pre-tax spending, not taxes or gratuities.
What changed in Cineplex Scene+ earning rates?
Cineplex’s revised rates took effect May 13, 2026. The change is not a across-the-board cut: most listed purchases earn fewer points, while premium experience tickets earn more. Cineplex’s official change notice compares the former and current rates.

Which tickets count as regular or premium?
Premium experience tickets
Cineplex lists IMAX, VIP, 3D, UltraAVX, 4DX, D-BOX, ScreenX, RealD 3D, Clubhouse and Event Cinema among its premium formats. These tickets earn 6 points per eligible dollar under the standard rate.
Regular ticket categories
Stars & Strollers, Event Cinema, Sensory Friendly and Recliner seating are listed in regular ticket categories, which earn 3 points per eligible dollar. Event Cinema appears in both Cineplex’s premium-format and regular-category lists, so check the rate shown for the particular ticket or offer rather than assuming the label alone determines it.

Some offers, promotions, upgrades or transactions may have a different rate. Cineplex says the applicable rate is disclosed with the offer; its Scene+ page lists current categories and exceptions.
How to estimate points on a purchase
Use the eligible pre-tax amount for each purchase category and multiply it by that category’s rate. For a regular ticket, that means 3 points per eligible dollar; for a premium ticket, 6. Apply the ticket’s rate to its online booking fee. Do not count taxes or gratuities: Cineplex excludes them, and its change notice says qualifying spend is rounded to the nearest whole point.

For example, a $20 eligible regular-ticket purchase earns 60 points at the standard rate; a $20 eligible premium-ticket purchase earns 120. These examples exclude any taxes, gratuities or offer-specific terms.
What are Cineplex Scene+ points worth?
At Cineplex, 100 points can be redeemed for $1 toward movie tickets, food or drinks. Scene+ says points usually appear within 48 hours, though promotional points may take longer. How CineClub’s July 2026 changes fit in
Cineplex announced separate CineClub changes effective July 15, 2026. The program update lists the monthly membership at $10.99, annual and gift membership at $120.89, and Everyday Member-Priced Tickets at $10.99. Existing annual and gifted members keep the prior $9.99 member-ticket price until renewal. CineClub ticket credits and member-priced tickets earn at the standard Scene+ rate in effect when purchased.
Cineplex says other listed benefits, including 20% off food and drinks and no online booking fees, did not change. It also announced a one-time 20-point-per-unused-credit top-up for eligible unused credits as of July 15, to be issued by August 15, 2026. That date has passed; the published update does not confirm whether a particular member’s account received the points. See Cineplex’s CineClub program update for the terms.

Do these rates apply at The Rec Room or Playdium?
No. The 3- and 6-point Cineplex rates are for eligible Cineplex purchases, not all Scene+ partners. Scene+ help information gives The Rec Room and Playdium separate rates: 1 point per dollar on eligible food, drinks, games and entertainment purchases. It describes 500 points for $5 toward food, drinks or game credits at The Rec Room, and 500 points for $5 toward eligible Playdium purchases. Check the venue’s own rules before estimating rewards there.

- Identify whether the ticket is treated as regular or premium for that purchase; Event Cinema is listed in both categories.
- Base the estimate on eligible pre-tax spending, excluding taxes and gratuities.
- Check the offer terms for a different promotion, upgrade or transaction-specific rate.
- Use the transaction record or account details to verify the points posted. General published rates do not determine the amount due on an individual order.
