Which Chomps beef sticks are recalled?
Chomps’ consumer notice lists these affected lots of 1.15-ounce products. The company says the recall applies to Original Beef sold as single sticks and in 8-count and 12-count pouches, and Original Turkey sold as single sticks. It does not apply to every Chomps product.
- Original Beef: 6220A 25016, 6220A 25017, 6220A 25018, 6220A 25020, 6220A 25021, and 6220A 25022.
- Original Turkey: P6220A 25022 and P6220A 25023.
The U.S. Army/Defense Logistics Agency Food Safety Office memorandum dated March 21, 2025, describes 1.15-ounce vacuum-sealed packages labeled “CHOMPS ORIGINAL BEEF STICK MILD,” with lot code 25016, expiration date 02-10-2026, and establishment number 6220A. It says those items were shipped to retail locations in California and Illinois. The company’s notice lists additional lots and products; its list is the better guide for checking the broader company recall. Chomps’ recall notice · March 21 memorandum.
How to check the lot code
- Find the lot code printed on the bottom of an individual stick, below the barcode.
- Compare the complete code, including the establishment prefix where shown, with the affected-lot list above.
- If you bought a pouch, remove a stick and check its code; do not rely on the outer pouch alone.
What to do with an affected product
- Do not eat a stick whose product and lot code match the recall.
- Return it to the retailer where you bought it for a full refund. If you cannot return it, Chomps asks you to contact its support team for next steps.
- You may also discard the product; the Food Safety Office memorandum says affected items should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
- If you are concerned about an injury, contact a healthcare provider.
Why the recall was issued—and what the notices say
The stated hazard is possible metal fragments, not a microbial contamination concern. Chomps’ March 20, 2025 notice says the company investigated two consumer complaints. The March 21 memorandum reports that Idaho Smokehouse Partners, LLC, of Shelley, Idaho, notified the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service after two complaints reported pieces of metal.

The memorandum recounts an FSIS announcement of a recall of approximately 29,541 pounds of ready-to-eat beef-stick products, produced January 13–15, 2025. Chomps’ notice describes select beef and turkey lots produced at one facility and says products were packaged January 16–23, 2025. The notices do not explain how the company’s broader lot list relates to the 29,541-pound figure, so that poundage should not be treated as a recalculated total for every lot on Chomps’ page.
At the time of the memorandum, there were no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption. Chomps separately reported no adverse reactions or injuries in its notice. These statements do not establish how many affected packages reached consumers.
