China Construction Bank (CCB) has two ordinary-share listings: its Hong Kong H-shares trade as 939 (often displayed as 00939) in Hong Kong dollars (HKD), while its Shanghai A-shares trade as 601939 in renminbi (RMB). Their regular trading schedules differ, so check the exchange and local time for the listing you mean.

Which China Construction Bank stock listing is the right one?

CCB’s General Shareholder Information FAQ identifies H-shares on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited under ticker symbol 939, and A-shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange under ticker symbol 601939. Hong Kong market screens and brokers may display the H-share code with a leading zero as 00939.

Ordinary share listing Exchange Code commonly used Trading currency
H-share Hong Kong Stock Exchange (Main Board) 939 or 00939 HKD
A-share Shanghai Stock Exchange 601939 RMB

CCB lists 27 October 2005 as the H-share listing date and 25 September 2007 as the A-share listing date in its investor FAQ. The issuer’s filing definitions specify that A-shares are listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and traded in RMB, while H-shares are listed in Hong Kong and traded in Hong Kong dollars. These are the shares’ trading currencies; a broker’s quote display or settlement choices may differ.

CCB also identifies a Shanghai-listed domestic preference share under code 360030 in its 2025 half-year report. That is a separate share class, not the ordinary A-share ticker 601939.

What are CCB’s normal trading hours?

The schedules below are for regular full trading days and use the local time of each exchange. Auction periods are shown separately from continuous trading; an exchange session being open does not necessarily mean continuous trading is underway.

Listing Local exchange time Session
Hong Kong H-shares (939/00939) 9:00–9:30 Pre-opening session
Hong Kong H-shares (939/00939) 9:30–12:00 Morning continuous trading
Hong Kong H-shares (939/00939) 12:00–13:00 Extended morning session
Hong Kong H-shares (939/00939) 13:00–16:00 Afternoon continuous trading
Hong Kong H-shares (939/00939) From 16:00; random close between 16:08 and 16:10 Closing auction
Shanghai A-shares (601939) 9:15–9:25 Opening call auction
Shanghai A-shares (601939) 9:30–11:30 Morning continuous trading
Shanghai A-shares (601939) 13:00–14:57 Afternoon continuous trading
Shanghai A-shares (601939) 14:57–15:00 Closing call auction

The HKEX Securities Market FAQ gives the Hong Kong sessions and says trading is Monday through Friday except public holidays. It also notes that the extended morning and afternoon sessions do not apply on the eves of Christmas, New Year, and Lunar New Year; half-day schedules can affect closing-auction times. The Shanghai Stock Exchange schedule gives the Shanghai sessions and publishes its own holiday arrangements. Do not assume the two exchanges have matching trading calendars.

How to confirm the listing and hours for a particular date

  1. Match the code to the venue. Look for 939/00939 for CCB’s Hong Kong H-shares or 601939 for its Shanghai A-shares.
  2. Check the currency shown for that share class. The Hong Kong H-shares trade in HKD; the Shanghai A-shares trade in RMB.
  3. Use the exchange’s local schedule. Check the HKEX FAQ for the Hong Kong listing or the SSE schedule for Shanghai, rather than converting one venue’s hours and treating them as universal.
  4. Verify the intended trading date. Consult that exchange’s holiday calendar and any special-session notice; a regular full-day timetable is not a guarantee that a market is open on a particular date.

A ticker identifies the listing, but it does not establish whether a particular brokerage account can access that venue. Check the broker’s available markets and account eligibility separately.
